TheSummoner (Japanese:サマナーSummoner) is an advanced magicalclass which was introduced inFire Emblem: The Sacred Stones. Summoners are practitioners ofdark magic who, in addition to their offensive magic and ability to usestaves, have the unique ability to summon creatures to come to their aid or that of their allies.
In their debut appearance inThe Sacred Stones, Summoners are found only among playable units as one of twoclass change options for theShaman class. Statistically they are comparable, if slightly inferior, to the other Shaman class change option, theDruid, but while Druids have access tomore weapon types, Summoners have near-exclusive access to theSummon skill, allowing them to summonPhantoms to assist the player's army.
The class's second and final appearance so far is inFire Emblem: Radiant Dawn, as an enemy-onlythird-tier advanced class. The only Summoner in the game isIzuka, the boss ofPart IV, Chapter 5. Rather than summoning phantom warriors, Izuka instead summonsFeral Ones to defend him, summoning up to four suchlaguz per turn.
