Sue (Japanese:スーSue) is a playable character inFire Emblem: The Binding Blade. She first appears inChapter 6. ANomad fromSacae, Sue is a member of theKutolah tribe and granddaughter of their leader, Dayan, also known as the Silver Wolf. She is also the daughter ofRath, a playable character fromFire Emblem: The Blazing Blade. While her mother's name is unknown, there is the possibility ofLyn being the other parent, as suggested by her shared ending with Rath.

Role

WhenBern starts to invade countries, Sacae is one of the first lands to be attacked. The Silver Wolf, leader of the Kutolah tribe and the most powerful warrior of Sacae, leads the resistance forces, and entrusts the women and children to Sue, his granddaughter. She is told to lead them toLycia, where they would be safe. However, another tribe, known as the Djute, betrays the Kutolah and ambushes them. Sue, in an attempt to buy some time for her clansmen, faces the incoming attack, but this ends up being a ruse; the main forces were waiting where the Kutolah women and children had fled to, and Sue is unable to help them.^[3] Apparently, she is the only survivor of this massacre.

After wandering in Lycian territory for a while, Sue finds refuge inThria, under Lord Orun's protection. Yet whenWagner rebels and assassinates his lord, she is thrown into a cell, to be sent to Bern soon. She is later freed by the remnants of the Lycian Alliance army, who had been trapped by Wagner. After inquiring about their goal, she decides to join them in order to fight against Bern and to avenge Lord Orun.

When the army goes to theWestern Isles, she runs intoSin, a fellow clansman. She wonders what he is doing there, so far away from Sacae, and after hearing Sin's explanations, she asks him to join the Lycian army, as they would be helping her grandfather by doing so. Then, if the Etrurian army chooses to liberate Sacae first, Sue finally meets withher grandfather and convinces him to join forces with Roy, assuring him that the Lycian lord does not plan on conquering them thereafter. After liberating Sacae, she, together with Sin and Dayan, shows Roy where the Divine Weapon wielded byHanon,Mulagir, is hidden.

After Bern is defeated and the war is over, Sue returns to the plains of Sacae and lives normally, declining all credit for her contributions in the war. These actions would eventually lead people to compare her with the Divine Warrior Hanon.

Analysis

Sue is the first Nomad you get inThe Binding Blade. She joins with mediocre bases and a base level of 1, but with great growths in speed, skill, and luck. Because she can accurately deal damage from range and has high movement, she has an easy time gaining chip experience. While her lackluster strength and lock to 2 range might seem like big issues when combined with the low might of bows, because enemies inThe Binding Blade are quite bulky it's rare for most units to one round them. Sue can be useful for providing safe chip damage, especially with her 7 movement, as most 1-2 range weapons in the game suffer from poor accuracy. Having access to bows is also very valuable for killing enemy Wyvern Riders, which are hard for most other physical units to kill. Sue can also provide uses thanks to her low constitution giving her the massive aid of 15, allowing her to rescue almost any unit. Her low constitution does lower her speed if she uses anything but an iron or short bow, but she can make up for it with her great speed growth.

Sue is incredibly frail, with poor defensive growths and HP growth ensuring that she will usually die in 2 or 3 hits. She can try to dodgetank because of the poor accuracy of weapons inThe Binding Blade, but it's very risky to try so on a frail unit like Sue. She is also unable to attack non-bow users on enemy phase, so she will want to avoid enemy phase combat. She also has the unique downside where using her will make the player more likely to go to Sacae, which is the harder of the two routes.

Overall, because of her combination of both mounted and bow utility, she has a fair amount of uses. If trained, she will likely be the first unit with access to the Killer bow which significantly improves her combat, likely making her even better thanSin at combat and having the utility of a mount overKlein andIgrene, whileDayan comes quite late. Sue still won't be a standout utility or combat units and will face some steep competition from units who require less investment, but she has enough useful niches to still stand out above most of the cast.

Sue is one of the characters added to the game in theA Father's Legacy update, and became available for summoning by players on March 8, 2019. Only one variation of Sue is currently available inHeroes, based on herThe Binding Blade incarnation.

Sue notably bringsgreen bows into the normal summoning pool, a weapon type not available in the game at its initial launch and previously exclusive to the Legendary Hero variation ofLyn and the New Year's variation ofFjorm.

Personality

Sue is a quiet and focused person. She is not one to raise her voice, even when forced to act differently as she had wanted to.^[4] Despite her calm nature, she is willing to fight as soon as she is freed;^[5] in fact, the only times she protests loudly is when she is denied from fighting or overprotected. Such willingness may be due to her failure at protecting the Kutolah women and children; due to this, she wants to be in the front lines, despite what Sin, her bodyguard, thinks on the matter.^[6]

While Sue may not seem very interested in the rest of the army,^[7] she is in very close contact with nature, and is dumbfounded after learning thatFae is not allowed to go outside her room;^[8] in several of her supports she shows this facet, even stating that her heart lies in the plains of Sacae. However, that does not mean she does not try to understand other lifestyles; after talking toWolt, she tries to use her bowwhile on feet,^[9] and wonders if the differences between her and Roy are due to their different upbringings.^[10]

Short: Contiuned life in Sacae as a nomad.

Long: Sue returned to Sacae and resumed life as a nomad. Despite playing a major role in the war, she refused to claim credit. Seeing how she chose to live her life in the vast plains which she loved so dearly, some people say that she reminded them of the "Divine Warrior" Hanon.

Roy and Sue
Sue accompanied Roy to Lycia, where she married him and became the mistress of Pherae. However, she never could cast away her love for nature, and her behavior sometimes troubled those around her, who were not familiar with Sacaean culture.

Sue: Doe of the Plains
Sue's a nature-loving member of the nomadic Kutolah tribe, which journeys across the plains of Sacae on the continent of Elibe.	Ever the strong and silent type, she takes after her grandfather, Dayan, and her father, Rath, both of whom were esteemed warriors.	Sue took refuge after her tribe was scattered, only to then be captured. After Roy rescued her from captivity, she joined his group to get back into the action.	Sue's life hunting on the plains really shows in her archery and horseback riding skills—just watch as her arrows strike true!
