Analysis
| This character analysis section may not be accurate to every player's experience. |
Sin appears in Chapter 9 as an enemy and can be recruited by Sue. As a Nomad, Sin has access to bows, as well as having one of the best aid/con distributions in the game, and lesser penalties in forests than regular mounted units. His 7 Con makes him lose two points of Speed while using Steel Bows before promotion, but he does not lose Speed from using Killer Bows, and has high enough speed to compensate. His main disadvantage is his lack of 1 range before promotion, as well as a bad defense growth. His combat is decent against most non-armored units, as he is very frequently able to double most medium speed units such as fighters, archers, and magic users. His offensive growths and bases are very good, with 7 Strength, 8 Skill and 10 Speed, 45% Strength, and 50% Skill and Speed. His Luck is also low, so he may face crit against some more skilled enemies and considerable chances against Killer weapons.
In Hard Mode, Sin's bases improve significantly. While his boosts aren't as extreme as Melady's or Rutger's, they allow him to catch up and contribute to your army much more easily.
Since he has 18 aid, Sin can rescue every unit in the game, including some promoted units that are notoriously difficult to carry such asGonzalez andDouglas.
His promotion to Nomadic Trooper gives him E Swords, giving him a way to attack with 1 range, but it will take quite some time before he can use better swords such as Killing Edges. His most notable promotion gain is a +5 to HP, which really helps his bad defensive stats a little, and he also receives boosts to his offensive stats.
It is worth noting that if Sue and Sin have more combined experience than Shanna and Thea, the player will proceed to Sacae for Chapters 17-20, while if Shanna and Thea have more experience, the player will proceed to Ilia. One doesn't need to necessarily train both units in order to go Sacae; they only need to make sure that Sin and Sue's summed up level is bigger than Shanna and Thea's.
His Ice Affinity is a defensive one, and he can be paired with Sue, as she has the Wind affinity, giving him some attack, accuracy, critical, and critical evade, though it takes them 15 turns together in order to get to C rank. His support with Dayan is faster, but Dayan joins later and may not join your team if you are going to Ilia, and grants him similar attack, in addition to avoid and critical dodge. His other Supports are slower, and since Fir and Dorothy are both foot-locked units, it may take some time before their Support grow and it may hamper Sin's usefulness. His Support with Zeiss is also very slow but it can give good avoid and critical chance, though Zeiss, as a flying unit, tends to go into places which are hard to reach by mounted units.
Overall, Sin is a good combat unit, even better on Hard Mode because of the bonuses, and his Aid means he also has great utility. He does have durability issues, but he is able to avoid combat with his bow access, and he will be a good candidate for Mulagir in the endgame.
