TheSentinel (Japanese:
Sentinels are roughly a lance-wielding counterpart toTrueblades,Reavers andMarksmen, and distinguish themselves with stats that help them perform a bulky offensive role. Their rawstrength is stellar, and while theirspeed andskill are below average, theirdefense is impressive for a class outside theKnight family. Owing to being both powerful and durable, Sentinels tend to be excellent front-line units and, unlike the Knight family, havemovement decent enough to allow them to keep up. Their primary flaws are their speed which, while not terrible, may lead to them being more readilydoubled by Trueblades and other faster classes; and theirresistance, which is as mediocre as any other physically inclined class. Sentinels are also aided by their exclusive access to theImpale skill, which if activated has a very high chance of taking out a foe in a single blow.

Trivia
- In the PAL version ofRadiant Dawn, even though the PAL release renames the Sentinel class to "Lancer", Impale's description still refers to the class as "Sentinel".
- InRadiant Dawn's class roll, the Sentinel class is referred to as "Lancer", even in the North American version.
