Analysis

Selphina joins as a level 8Arch Knight with a B-rank in bows. Her base stats are poor for her level, but thanks to her high bow rank, she can contribute by using high-level bows. Her growths are worse thanRobert's, but her base stats, base level, and bow rank are all higher.

Selphina's main advantage is the B-rank in bows, letting her use theBrave Bow at base, among others. With the Brave Bow, she can one-round enemies without taking a counterattack. She also has theAccost skill. The skill lets her start another combat round if she fights someone with lower Attack Speed and HP than her own. If she is attacking someone who cannot counter, this is useful, because it lets her safely one-round. For example, she can shoot an enemy eight times with the Brave Bow if she doubles and triggers Accost. However, her low base HP means she can struggle to activate this. If a Ballista or another dangerous enemy with low HP and speed with 1-range targets her, the skill can get her killed.

Selphina has several flaws. Firstly, she can only use bows, even after promotion, so she can never counter at 1-range. Second, she suffers movement and stat penalties indoors due to the forced dismount. While she keeps her main weapon type indoors, letting her contribute from 2-range, this is still a flaw. Outdoors, she has good mobility thanks to her mount, but she loses it indoors. Finally, her constitution is poor and unlikely to improve much without the use ofCrusader Scrolls. Even after promotion, she will be weighed down by 4 points when wielding the Brave Bow.

One major advantage that Selphina has, however, is her large number of supports. She grants bonuses to all of the Leonster knights, and has a mutual support with Glade. Her Glade support stands out, as she grants him double the typical bonuses - Glade gains +20 to Hit, Avoid, Crit, and Dodge. If the player wishes to use one or more of the Leonster knights long-term, Selphina can be deployed as a solid supporter, even if she does not see much combat use.

Overall, Selphina is a decent chip damage dealer, especially on outdoor maps. Since most bow users inThracia are mediocre or weak units, the player is unlikely to train them. For that reason, when Selphina joins, she will likely have exclusive access to the Brave Bow. Besides, she is mounted outdoors, making her mobile. Her player phase damage output is great with Accost and the Brave Bow, but her enemy phase is essentially non-existent. She is a bit difficult to use, but more usable and better at base level than the units she joins with.

Personality

Selphina is nondescript, and given no explicit personality traits. Her ending suggests that she is very kind and willing to give to those worse off than her.

After the new Kingdom of Thracia was established, she retired from her position of leading the royal guard. Instead, she used her mansion as an orphanage to take care of deprived children. Many of the children that Selphina saved lived on to become great heroes. Selphina was later called the Mother of Thracia, and her stories were told for many generations.
