Path to War

Seeds of Unrest is the second chapter of theFire Emblem Engage expansionFell Xenologue. In this chapter,Alear,Nel, andNil travel to a parallelFirene to meetAlfred andCéline. However, when Alear arrives, the two Firenese royals believe Nel and Nil to be using fell dragon magic to for self gain and so, to put the Alear they believe is corrupted out of their misery, Alfed and Céline initiate a fight to kill them all.

Plot

Main article:Seeds of Unrest/Script

Nil andNel bringAlear to the parallel world'sFirene. Nel informs them of their goal: to obtain theBracelet of the Brash General. Nil and Nel tell Alear how the Firenese in this world are violent and war-seeking, and that its QueenÈve died in the previous war, with her sonAlfred taking the throne in her place. Soon, a woman namedZelestia arrives to reunite with Nel and Nil, but when she begins to praise Alear, the two inform her that this Alear is from a different world. Zelestia then recounts her role in this world's Alear's burial. After her short grief, she introduces herself to Alear, who is put off by her mention of someone like her living in their world. She then relays news to Nel and Nil thatCéline intends to invadeBrodia, that she has been raising an army in preparation, and lastly that Firene'sEmblem has changed somehow. The group then hastens to Firene Castle.

Inside the castle, Céline and Alfred argue over whether or not to invade Brodia to secure the resources to sustain their own country. Alfred is reluctant to face Brodia's military, but Céline manipulates him into accepting by threatening to attack them on her own. Before Alfred can give notice to his knights, Nel and Nil arrive to begin negotiations for their Emblem Bracelet. Tensions between the two groups rise, and Alfred suspects the two of ulterior motives. Alear then enters the conversation, but Céline accuses them of being aCorrupted raised by Nel and Nil. Alfred is infuriated by this, and orders his knights to attack Alear's army.

Alear's army defeats Alfred and Céline, and reclaims their bracelet, which contains a tainted EmblemHector. Before Nel puts him back to slumber, Hector thanks her and wishes to fight alongside Alear someday. Alear then demands Alfred and Céline to cease their invasion, and they agree. The two apologize to them, as well as to Nel and Nil for previously tying them toSombron. They then offer theirs and Firene's army to aid Alear, but Nel and Nil refuse their aid, urging them to keep themselves safe. Céline then suggests keeping the Emblem Bracelet in Firene for safety reasons, though Nel reasons against this as well. Alfred and Céline wish Alear's group good luck, and the two depart.

Outside the castle, Alear chastises Nel for her harsh words, and the two argue briefly. After they defuse the tension between themselves, Alear muses that they might need to fight against twins, although Nel responds that mostFell Dragon children lose their twin siblings as they age. The group then makes their way toBrodia.

Sometime in the past, a young Nel and Nil discuss the other Fell Dragon twins killing each other, and Nil believes he will likely be next to die. Nel attempts to console him, and pledges to protect him no matter what.

Beginning log

After fending off assassins, the Divine Dragon heads to Firene with Nel and Nil in search of a bracelet.

Strategy

This section details unofficial strategies that may help with completion of the chapter. This may not work for everybody.

Before you begin, make a mental note of the fact that every enemy on this map is Corrupted. Besides being a hint of plot developments to come, it means that Emblem Celica's Seraphim will carry you very far throughout the Fell Xenologue. Your new unit is the Melusine Zelestia, and there's a lot to love about her. She has the highest Speed in the army (tied with Chloé), the second highest Magic (behind Citrinne), nearly twice the Build of any other caster you have, and wings. With the aforementioned Emblem Celica, she can one-round a vast majority of the enemies. If you haven't touched the Mt Crystals from Update Bonus 2, using 10 to upgrade Seraphim's power is a very worthy investment. As for other preparations, you want to bring Louis with Emblem Tiki, as with her and two Vulneraries he can comfortably clear out the south side of the map single-handedly. Hit +10 greatly improves his reliability. A bowman carrying a Longbow is also a very important check against Alternate Céline, especially if given Emblem Hector for Quick Riposte. Finally, make sure to bring Framme or Jean to heal and use Chain Guard. Alear wants to take Emblem Micaiah since their combat isn't that great here and the way positioning works against Céline means they want to be able to heal if necessary. For Nil, Emblem Byleth can turn him into a pseudo-Dancer while Emblem Camilla and Emblem Corrin allow him to freely spawn terrain that can help allies or hinder enemies. Stow the inventories of everyone who isn't deploying in the convoy and make sure to carry a spare Elwind tome to trade over to Zelestia.

On turn 1, immediately Engage Louis and send him to wreak havoc on the southwestern enemies. Move the rest of your units to the northwest corner to take full control of the western half of the map. Zelestia and Celica can use Seraphim to devastate the initial wave on enemy phase as long as you defensively support her with tools like Alear, a stone Divine Vein, and Chain Guard. Mind the reinforcements that jump you from the northwest corner as well. Once you've got the west half of the map sorted out, start making your way east. Don't stress out about the enemy Thieves looting the chests, as the rewards don't carry out of the chapter, the Ridersbane is no help on Maddening since Alfred is the only enemy cavalry unit and Veteran+ nullifies his cavalry weakness, and you have more than enough healing with two Mend staves and Emblems Micaiah and Camilla. Clear out the center of the map and get ready for the boss fight.

When you're ready to challenge the Firenese royals, move Zelestia with her Elthunder tome into the eastern moat, just inside Céline's range, and move Alear to support her. The enemy Enchanter will buff Elthunder tomes for both the enemy army and you, Céline will attack, and the rest of the eastern enemies will aggro. Swap in your bowman and have them exchange shots with Céline over the moat until she goes down, using Alear to keep them alive. With a little luck, you should be able to put Céline down before Alfred reaches you. From there, dogpile Alfred. Louis with Emblem Tiki can tank his attacks and two-shot each health bar with Tail Smash, Zelestia can take out half of a health bar with Elwind or Seraphim, Nel can take a bump or two as long as she doesn't initiate into Quick Riposte, and Alear can serve as an emergency healer with Great Sacrifice. You're unlikely to bring him down in one turn, but as long as you can survive his retaliation you should be fine.
