Analysis

This character analysis section may not be accurate to every player's experience.

Sanaki is anEmpress who becomes playable at the start of Part IV, and is forced intoMicaiah's party and later for the endgame party in the Tower of Guidance. HerHP,strength, speed, anddefense are all extremely poor for a third-tier unit and are dangerously low for her join time, meaning she will almost certainly die if she is exposed to front-line combat. All tomes except for the basicWind tome will weigh her down significantly due to her base strength of 2. Herresistance, while very high, is near useless in her join chapter, due to the lack of enemy magic units aside from a fewBishops on the map. She cannot usestaves, making her purely a combat unit. Her main saving grace is her greatmagic and goodskill, allowing her to use long-range tomes and deal strong magic damage from the back lines. Even with regular tomes, she can deal very accurate and acceptable damage despite not doubling. Overall, these stats make her effectively a glass cannon, meaning she is good at dealing heavy damage but cannot take much in return. She is not affected by desert terrain, much like all other footlocked magic units, giving her very useful utility inchapter 4-3. Her high resistance will help for endgame, though her speed cap of 32 (if she could even reach it) will make it impossible for her to double anything past chapter 4-E-3. EquippingRexflame can give her an extra 3 points in speed to boost her past her speed cap, up to 35, though she is very likely to be weighed down by it without significant investment to her strength stat.

It is worth noting thatHetzel andLevail will not attack her in endgame; for the latter, it could serve as a way to bypass hisImpale skill. Sanaki andSephiran will also not attack each other in the penultimate battle. She will receive aRudol Gem for the final battle, giving her an extra 10 defense, which can provide some extra defense against some of Ashera's physical AoE attacks, but is otherwise useless against the prominent enemyspirits.

Sanaki already knowsFlare, which can allow her to deal heavy magic damage and heal her if needed. She is not fast enough to make speed related skills, such asAdept andVantage, reliable. She can useShade to deter enemies from pursuing her, though the player should not be overdependent on it. Come endgame, Sanaki can takeVolke'sStillness to increase her survivability even further. Her low joining level of 1 will not give her much time to build up her stats, so she can utilizeParagon to catch up with her allies.

Sanaki has a light affinity which gives a light defense and accuracy boost, the former which she greatly appreciates. Pairing her with an earth affinity can grant her a higher chance of survival.

Fire Emblem Awakening

Sanaki is playable as aSpotPass character, released in theRadiant Dawn character set. Sanaki is also present as an enemy in thefirst andthird installments of theSmash BrethrenDLC series.

Battle quotes

Yuma: Death to the false apostle! Show her the punishment for her wicked, deceitful acts!
Sanaki: I...I have not deceived you! I am the true... I am the true apostle...

— Sanaki, when fightingYuma inPart IV, Prologue inRadiant Dawn.
Numida: So, child, what the vice-minister said was true! Wicked infant! How dare you pretend to be divinely inspired while you heard absolutely nothing from the Goddess!
Sanaki: I...

— Sanaki, when fightingNumida inPart IV, Chapter 3 ofRadiant Dawn.
Sanaki: Hetzel... I had thought that you alone might be above Lekain's foul conspiracy! It saddens me to see you at his side.
Hetzel: N-no, Apostle Sanaki! I–
Sanaki: I didn't ask for excuses! You fight alongside Lekain. That's more proof than I'll ever need.
Hetzel: ...You are right, I fight with him. I had no choice. But...please, understand that I've always done my best to honor and respect Your Majesty.
Sanaki: Then how do you explain my confinement in Mainal Cathedral?
Hetzel: I-I didn't do anything! It was all Lekain! I didn't know anything about it, and only heard later...
Sanaki: And when you did hear of it, why didn't you stop it?
Hetzel: I...couldn't. Actually, I could have, but I...didn't say anything. It was the same with Misaha, and the Serenes Massacre... I...
Sanaki: ...didn't say anything. In other words, you stood by as my grandmother and the Serenes people were killed!
Hetzel: P-please forgive me...

— Sanaki, when fightingHetzel inPart IV, Endgame (1) ofRadiant Dawn.
Sanaki: Burn, traitor!
Lekain: Watch your tongue, girl!

— Sanaki, when fightingLekain in Part IV, Endgame (1) ofRadiant Dawn.
Dheginsea: In my eyes, the mightiest of you looks no different than an infant. Can you hope to stand a chance?
Sanaki: Of... of course. I am Sanaki, 37th empress of Begnion. It is my duty to save my people. Even the world's mightiest dragon will not dissuade me from that calling.
Dheginsea: All right, then, child. Fulfill your duty.
