Analysis
| This character analysis section may not be accurate to every player's experience. |
Sakura is aShrine Maiden inFire Emblem Fates. If theBirthright route is picked, she is available fromChapter 5 onwards. If theConquest route is picked, she leaves inChapter 6, never to rejoin. If theRevelation route is picked, she is unavailable fromChapter 6 until the end ofChapter 8. She is a typical early-game healer, with low bulk, but withstaff utility. She cannot face combat, but can provide healing to the rest of the army in the first few chapters as she is the only staff user aside from Jakob and Felicia. Sakura starts with two skills:Quiet Strength andMiracle. Quiet Strength is a great utility skill, as it makes all of the player's units significantly bulkier. Miracle can save Sakura in combat where she can be defeated, but it cannot do so reliably, and she is generally not useful in combat regardless.
InBirthright, compared to the other early-game healers—Jakob,Felicia, andAzama—Sakura has the advantage of Quiet Strength and a great magic growth; however, Sakura has the worst starting staff level, worst durability, and least flexibility of each of these units. Furthermore, enemies inBirthright are relatively weak, reducing the demand for units dedicated to healing.
InRevelation, Sakura joins at level 4 with D staves in Chapter 8; without class change or child units, she is the second healer available after Jakob or Felicia, with the next beingElise inChapter 14. Because enemy quality is relatively high inRevelation, her staff utility is useful through at least the early chapters. Another benefit is thatRevelation maps often encourage the use ofDragon Veins, which makes royal characters like Sakura useful on those chapters.
Sakura has high growths inmagic, skill, speed, andluck. As a Shrine Maiden, she will get access toRally Luck, which can be useful when facing enemies with high critical hit or to help units' luck-based skills activate more reliably, but has generally less utility than other rally skills. She has the option to promote toOnmyoji orPriestess. Promoting to Onmyoji gives her access toscrolls, and extra magic at the cost of some luck. Because of her great speed and magic, Sakura does well in isolated instances of combat, but her low bulk limits who she can fight safely. In Onmyoji, she gains access toRally Magic andTomefaire. Rally Magic is an excellent utility skill, but Tomefaire comes late and Sakura will likely be outclassed by other combat-oriented magic users with better durability, though it is very useful for extra damage if she remains in a tome-wielding class. Priestess has a maximum staff rank of A, and grants the ability to wield bows; Sakura's low strength and starting bow level of E means she will ineffective with the few bows she can use. If she reaches C bows—which can be achieved with twoArms Scrolls—she can use the magic-basedShining Bow to deal good damage, but she will have the same long-term combat problem as in Onmyoji, and the Shining Bow is impossible to obtain inBirthright. Priestess additionally grants theRenewal andCountermagic skills. Renewal removes the need for other units to heal Sakura, but her poor combat means she should generally not be in situations where she can take damage. Countermagic is relatively useless, as Sakura's high resistance means she will take little damage from magic weapons, and thus deal little damage back.
On the subject of reclassing, Sakura has access to theSky Knight class line, but because of her low strength and inability to use staves this is considered a suboptimal class for her, alongside theKinshi Knight class.Falcon Knights can use staves, and thus is a great class for Sakura as it combines both staff and flying utility. Also, Falcon Knight grantsRally Speed, further improving Sakura's utility. If you choose to go this route, two Arms Scrolls will allow her to use theBolt Naginata, giving her some combat viability, though she will still have similar durability issues as in the Shrine Maiden class line.
Sakura can also utilizeFriendship Seal classes to give her additional options for classes and skills.Hana gives theSamurai class tree. Sakura doesn't have the highest strength growth or base as a Samurai orSwordmaster, meaning these will generally be temporary classes to get skills from, such asDuelist's Blow for extra avoid, which can help Sakura dodge-tank attacks to avoid damage, which she can already do well with her high luck stat and growth.Master of Arms can be a better class for longer with its higher strength base, 45% strength growth, and ability to use higher-powered lances and axes compared to just swords. This class also fixes her physical bulk at the cost of less magical bulk.Life and Death is an obvious winner with its +10 damage to both magical and physical attacks, though Sakura will take +10 more damage as well, and her generally lower bulk compared to other physical units makes this skill pretty risky.Elise is aRevelation exclusive, and givesTroubadour, perfectly complimenting Sakura's generally magic-based nature.Strategist allows Sakura to utilize magical combat in conjunction with the high mobility of a mount. Skills likeDemoiselle,Rally Resistance, andInspiration give Sakura additional options to be a supportive unit.Maid functions quite similarly to Priestess, being a supportive unit with an attacking option, though the only stat advantage Maid has is +3 skill, and most of her other stats are reduced. The biggest advantage Maid has over Priestess are shuriken debuffs. Sakura's low strength makes dealing any damage with shurikens highly unlikely, but the debuffs can prove valuable to weaken dangerous foes.

Fire Emblem Heroes
Role
There are four different variations of Sakura available toHeroes. The normal variation of Sakura is one of the characters available to be summoned by players from the game's initial launch. A Halloween variation of Sakura was made available between the period of October 30, 2017 through November 28, 2017 as part of the summoning event surrounding the launch of theTrick or Defeat! update. A hot spring-themed variation of Sakura was made available between the period of January 23, 2019 through February 23, 2019 as part of the summoning event surrounding the launch of theHostile Springs update. A legendary variation of Sakura—based on her appearance as a Priestess—was added on February 27, 2025, and was first available to summon from then to March 13, 2025.
The Halloween variation of Sakura is notably the first character inHeroes to have inherent access to three three-tier passive skill trees; previous characters with inherent access to all three passive type slots have had a one-tier skill in their type-B slot.

The youngest sibling of the Hoshidan royal family, Sakura is known for her kind heart and bashful demeanor, as well as her healing powers. She can use her bow and the wind to unleash attacks across a wide range. While these attacks may lack in power, her Warrior Specials are quite effective. | ?? |

| Oh my gosh, she's so cute! Sakura's here for the harvest festival, and I've never seen such an adorable outfit! | Apparently, she's come dressed up as a type of spirit called a "nekomata." Given the cat-like ears on top of her head, I suppose there must be some relation to cats? | Oh, and looking closely, I see that the outer garment of her kimono and the fan she's carrying are decorated with cherry blossoms—or sakura, as they're called there! | You can't have trick-or-treating without falling prey to a trick or two, but I don't think I'd have it in me to get mad about whatever pranks this cute little kitty comes up with! | ||||||||||

|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Sakura is the second princess of Hoshido. Today she's enjoying a trip to the hot spring we found not far from the castle in Askr! | Like many from Hoshido, Sakura loves a good soak in a hot spring. She thinks it's the best way to relax after a fight, and she knows all the best spots for it back home. | She's carrying the Grandscratcher, a Hoshidan back-scratching staff. Apparently it's great for getting those hard-to-reach places—and with the ball that's attached to it, you can even massage your shoulders! | Sakura says bathing in hot springs relaxes both mind and body. She's an expert in the healing arts, so she'd be one to know. I hope she invites me along for her next trip! | ||||||||||

|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Sakura was born the second princess of Hoshido. Though she can be a little timid, her quiet resolve and compassion have soothed the spirits of the people of her war-torn land. | One day, Hoshido was attacked by its neighbor, the kingdom of Nohr. Sakura's mother, Mikoto, was assassinated, and Sakura joined forces with her siblings to resist Nohr's invasion. | After the war was won, her older brother Ryoma took the Hoshidan throne, and Sakura took on a new role helping him rule. | Sakura continued to give her all for Hoshido and her beloved siblings. They say that the sight of her at work was reminiscent of the late queen, Mikoto... | ||||||||||

|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Here's Elise and Sakura, two princesses from the rival kingdoms of Nohr and Hoshido. They've set aside their differences for the Day of Devotion, joining hands across the border that divides them! | Elise's festival attire is a stylish but cute little number in white, black, and pink. The wreath on her staff features not only roses, but cherry blossoms, the national flower of Hoshido! | Meanwhile, Sakura's striking outfit matches a bold, sunny red color with the inspiring blue of a crystal-clear sky. She's also wearing a ribbon and a headband—this time decorated with roses, the national flower of Nohr! | I love how they've found a way to dress in their national styles while incorporating a feature of their neighboring kingdoms! There's no better symbol of the burgeoning friendship between Nohr and Hoshido! | ||||||||||

| Nephenee comes from the kingdom of Crimea in Tellius, while Sakura is the second princess of Hoshido. They're both here in yukata for the summer festival! | Nephenee's almost never seen without her helmet, but for this outing she wears a fox mask instead! I see the bag on her waist also features the same pattern as her trusty shield. | Meanwhile, Sakura is wearing a cherry-blossom-themed outfit. Turns out, "sakura" is what they call cherry blossoms in Hoshido! That cloak around her shoulders adds an extra regal spin to her look. | Nephenee and Sakura have shown us some truly charming yukata outfits today. They might even draw attention away from the summer fireworks show! | ||||||||||
