Strategy
| This section details unofficial strategies that may help with completion of the chapter. This may not work for everybody. |
This chapter has several factors that make it very difficult and potentially taxing on resources, but if played right it can result in a multitude of excellent rewards for the player. The first major problem is that all of the swordfighters on the map are equipped with thief swords, which steal a random item from the inventory of any unit they attack. The one item type they can't steal however is ☆ weapons, like theShramm,Mainstar, etc., so if you only place these items in the equipment of units in range of the swordfighters you can keep all your items. You can also bait these enemies with units with no items, and then kill them from 2-range.
In the central room of the map there are several enemies who are invisible until the door to their room is opened; these enemies are equipped with several long range weapons, including most threateningly a bow master with a gatling bow equipped. These enemies will attack you, but cannot be countered until their room is opened. For this reason, it is recommended to not leave any vulnerable units standing next to the walls of this room. Before the map starts,Arkis leaves your army and is disguised as an enemy Dark Knight, specifically the northern-most one, although this is not indicated in his stat screen. You can tell which one is him as he will still keep his level and personal stats. He will attack you with his devil spear, and if he attacks a player unit with an equipped weapon he can be easily killed, preventing his re-recruitment. There are a few methods that can be used to make this recruitment easier.Rebecca, who is recruited in the previous chapter, can use summon staffs, so you can distract Arkis with weak targets like zombies. If he is attacked by a unit with theSteal skill, they can steal his weapon and cause him to retreat out of danger. Alternatively, Arkis can be surrounded with units with no weapons equipped, although they will need to be fairly bulky to survive combined attacks from Arkis and enemies in the central room, so bringing a healer with aDistant Healing Staff to sustain them can make this strategy more reliable. Arkis can be recruited properly by talking to him with your other recruitable unit,Rina. Rina can be recruited just by opening her cell door, so it is recommended to bring some door keys to the map so that she can be recruited quickly, while allowing Narcus to open chests and stay out of danger. Once Rina is recruited, simply make sure the enemies between her and Arkis, including the central room enemies, are dealt with and you can finally save Arkis and re-recruit him to the army, changing his class back to what it was before his capture.
In addition to these perils, there are several lucrative items that can be obtained in this map. TheKnight Proof andSuper Proof in the bottom of the map can be easily retrieved, but the greatest prize is the only Movement Plus in the whole game that can be found at the top of the map. An enemy thief moves to intercept this item and flee quickly, and you have to move at an extreme pace to catch up with him with a 1-range weapon. Thankfully, he can be reached much earlier with weapons of at least 3 range, like theLongbow,RishelsSunflame tome, and theMeteor tome. The last swordfighter you are likely to face drops his thief sword, which allows you to steal various valuable enemy items. The first boss of the map,Golgotha, has a desirable weapon, the Master Sword, that can be stolen this way. Golgotha moves to attack player units in range, so he can be baited out by a bulky unit with the thief sword, then easily killed once he has no weapons in his inventory. Note that Golgotha has the Dragon Saint skill which, if activated, can be threatening to even the tankiest units such as Zachariah. At the bottom of the map in the left-most cell there are 7 civilan NPCs who, once the door is opened, reveal themselves to be thieves. These enemies are actually fairly weak, and can be easily dispatched to retrieve their droppable money bags, however they can steal items, so the same strategy used in fighting the swordfighters applies here. Lastly the boss of the map,Lentzenheimer, is equipped with theRukuud sword that can be obtained if he is killed by eitherVega orJulia. Vega is the far stronger unit of the two and thus the easiest way to get it, however they only need to finish him off, so even at base either unit can kill him with the right set-up. All of these difficulties make 26B the harder of the two maps in the route split, however the potential prizes the player can receive reward players who attempt this difficult map.
