Safy (Japanese:サフィSafy) is a playablePriest inFire Emblem: Thracia 776. She is a servant ofLinoan[2] sent fromTarrah to look for people willing to stand up to theGrannvale Empire.
Biography
Safy was born the daughter of a priest, and grew up inTarrah alongside her younger sister,Tina. She served underLinoan, whom she was close to.[3] When theGrannvale Empire threatened to besiege Tarrah, she was sent on a mission by Linoan to gather supporters to defend against the Empire.[4]
As she passed byIz, she ended up kidnapped by theLifis Pirates.[5] During her time in captivity, she unsuccessfully attempted to convince their leader,Lifis, to join her cause, despite him pretending to consider it. After being rescued by theFiana Freeblades, she recognizedLeif from the time he spent in Tarrah.[6] She explained to him what happened to the city after he left, which convinced him to come to Tarrah's aid.[7] She also convinced Leif to spare Lifis from being handed over to the people he previously terrorized, believing him worthy of a chance at redemption.[8] Afterwards, she decided to accompany the group to continue gathering supporters against the Empire.
When Leif was captured by the Empire, Safy managed to avoid imprisonment and escaped with the other Freeblades to elsewhere. Later, when the Freeblades were captured under suspicion of banditry byHannibal's guard,Finn and Safy managed to escape and reunite with Leif as he fledMunster. Safy was able to convinceShiva before escaping with Leif back to Hannibal to accompany the Fiana Freeblades and her from then on.
Later, Safy reunited with Tina in the base of theDandelion Bandits, her sister having previously been kidnapped by the bandits. Safy scolded Tina for leaving Tarrah by herself, but was happy to see her nonetheless.
Safy accompanied Leif's liberation army until at least the liberation ofMunster. Her involvement, if any, with the war after Leif's forces merged withSeliph's is unknown, as she does not appear inFire Emblem: Genealogy of the Holy War.

Analysis
| This character analysis section may not be accurate to every player's experience. |
Safy is the first healer available inThracia 776, joining in Chapter 3, where she then becomes unavailable untilChapter 7. She offers exclusive staff utility, as she joins with a C rank and is only 10 weapon experience away from a B rank. From there, she will gain an automatic A rank when she promotes. Staves are incredibly useful inThracia, especially the A-rankWarp staff, and Safy will be the only character who can use the majority of them beforeSalem joins (unless the player is willing to grind upNanna's orAsbel's staff ranks).
She also joins with theRepair staff, which is exclusive to her. Because of the exorbitant amount of powerful personal weapons and staves available, it will be invaluable throughout the game. Repair is most useful in the early game as weapons like theFlame Sword and staves such asWarp are much more available later on, thoughpersonal weapons likeGrafcalibur andThief and special weapons like theKingmaker andBrave Axe will remain limited.
With her +3 magic upon promotion and her 60% magic growth, which can be improved further throughscrolls, Safy can reliably hit status staves on most enemies, even those with high magic. Additionally, while Safy does not have any combat capabilities at first, she gains access tolight magic upon promotion, and due to the low quality of most enemies inThracia, she can be used as a decent combat unit (though her durability will remain poor). However, the firstLightning tome does not show up untilChapter 14, and from then untilChapter 22 it is the only one available, and other units will want it, particularlyLinoan andHomer who can use it to reach 100% crit on their second attack. The only other light tome,Nosferatu, requires a B-rank to use, meaning she needs to gain 150weapon experience to use it. While she has the higheststrength growth out of the spellcasters in the game, it is completely useless for her since magic users cannot make use of said stat.
Safy is not without flaws. Her mobility is low, especially before promotion, so she will fall behind the army and be unable to offer healing without theFortify orPhysic staves. Even if she can keep up, her lowHP anddefense mean that she will get one-shot by many enemies and even weaker enemies will two-shot her, and she will getfatigued quickly. She can be left without any weapons to tempt enemies intocapturing her, but any items must then be taken back from her captor, and failing to rescue her will render her unavailable untilChapter 21x. Also, regardless of constitution, mages will have their speed reduced by an amount equal to the tome's weight, ignoring the usual formula for attack speed. She also has imperfect accuracy with her staves at base level, though she will on average reach 10 skill after nine levels, where she will maximize her accuracy with staves.
Compared to other staff users that join later, Safy lacks the combat parameters orAction Stars they have. However, the fatigue system means that other staff users will have to rest, and several late-game chapters likeChapter 24 will require multiple staff users, so she will remain useful throughout the game.

- ↑"Leif: That aside, how did you come to be here? Has something happened to Linoan?
Safy: You mean to say you don't know what's happened to Tarrah since you left? Ah... Let me start from the beginning. After the Duke passed away, the Empire installed their own governor. The man proved to be a walking pox, inflicting tragedy after tragedy upon us. Just this year, they even began child hunts in Tarrah.
Leif: Child hunts...?
Safy: That proved to be the breaking point. The people of Tarrah revolted, installing Lady Linoan as rightful Duchess. They hired any sellsword who could stand upright, and then sent offerings of gold and gemstones to the Empire's leading noblemen. It was... an admirable effort, but King Bloom of Thracia did not forgive such a slight, and summoned the Imperial Army to besiege Tarrah. The sellswords proved craven and fled, and now only a handful of militiamen stand between the Empire and our city. Lady Linoan bade me leave and seek out any who would fight in Tarrah's defense.
Leif: Are things truly that dire...? [...] You're seeking folk to aid Tarrah? Look no more. I pledge to deliver Tarrah from this evil." —Leif and Safy inChapter 2x,Fire Emblem: Thracia 776 - ↑"Lifis: Well, don't keep me in suspense. What are you gonna do with me?
Leif: That's up to the villagers of Iz. We're taking you back there to answer for your crimes.
Lifis: We both know what'll happen! You handin' me over to them is as good as killin' me yourself! Safy, c'mon, we had a deal— I said I'd go to Tarrah with you!
Safy: ...Lord Leif, Lifis is not an evil man. He's committed many foul acts as a pirate, yes, but he seemed genuinely repentant when we spoke earlier. Give him a chance to redeem himself in the eyes of the gods.
Leif: ...All right. If Safy believes in you, I can give you a chance for the time being." —Lifis,Leif, and Safy inChapter 2x,Fire Emblem: Thracia 776 - ↑Character~登場人物の紹介~,ファイアーエムブレム トラキア776,Retrieved: 11 April 2017
