Analysis

This character analysis section may not be accurate to every player's experience.

Ronan is your second archer, and also one of the strangest units in the game. He has a respectable speed base and high skill and speed growths. However, his strength growth is extremely low, at a mere 15%, while his magic growth is unusually high at 55%. Unfortunately, his high magic is mostly useless with its only utility being that it can help him take better hits from mages. Ronan's poor strength growth, low strength base, and unimpressive FCM means he will have trouble reliably killing enemies. Furthermore, he is bowlocked, which means he cannot counter enemies at 1 range or capture enemies, and he has a very bad defense growth. Because of this, he is one of the worst combat units in the game, though he can perform chip damage in the early game chapters to help units such asLeif get kills.

Still, Ronan does have some redeemable qualities in combat. He has theAdept skill, which gives him a chance to attack consecutively. Aside from this, Ronan has a high movement base of 7 and 3action stars, giving him a 15% chance to take a second turn. This makes him useful in indoor chapters where a unit with high movement can quickly rescue characters or grab chests, such as in Chapter 3 or Chapter 24. If the player decides to deploy him for his movement abilities, they should be careful to keep him out of harm's way, as his bad HP and Defense means he can be easily killed by enemies, and Tanya is more evasive than he is.

If the player is willing to use Ronan as a combat unit, they may give himscrolls that improve his strength, like the Hoðr scroll. Unfortunately, the Njörun scroll, which would benefit him the most, comes far too late to be of any use.

Fire Emblem Heroes

Main article:Ronan/Heroes

There is one variation of Ronan available inHeroes.

Personality

Ronan is polite and friendly, capable of getting along with anyone. His first thought upon visiting Askr inHeroes is to help people in need.[2] He is a skilled hunter and uses it to make people's lives easier.[3] While Ronan does kill animals, he believes humans must coexist with nature, so he never kills too many.[4]

Ronan strongly believes in taking action and always volunteers to do what is necessary. This leads to his recruitment inThracia 776, and he expresses the sentiment many times inHeroes.[5] Ronan has learned in the bandit raid onIz that inaction achieves nothing—if Ronan stood aside, his village would be in peril.

Ronan lacks faith in nobility, but seldom shows open hostility. He does not believe nobles are kind-hearted and generous, and doubts they would do much for common people;Leif is the only noble Ronan finds approachable and trustworthy. However, his encounters with nobles inHeroes are positive, lifting his impression of the nobility.[6] Ronan cares about the impression given by nobility, because he thinks nobles should set a good example for commoners. He claims that when nobles are righteous and lead by example, commoners including himself are able to do their best.[7]

Ronan has a strong connection to his mother and does many things to make her proud. She is the person Ronan cares about the most; he seeks her approval and wishes to protect her.[8]

InThracia 776, Ronan has very few lines of dialogue, but he is frustrated with the raids ofLifis and his pirates enough to join theFiana Freeblades; however, Ronan will not comment on Leif recruiting Lifis if it occurs.
