TheRogue (Japanese:ローグRogue) is anadvancedclass which was introduced inFire Emblem: The Sacred Stones, and appears only in it andRadiant Dawn. They are anadvanced form of theThief, originally introduced as an alternative to theAssassin, and inRadiant Dawn they can promote again to theWhisper class.

While the point of the Assassin is to give Thieves a dangerous offensive side, Rogues are essentially designed just to be "Thieves, but better", built to simply become more proficient at looting chests and stealing from enemies. Theirspeed is extremely high, giving them an excellent chance to be able to steal from most enemies, and they also retain excellentskill but poorstrength and defensive stats, making their use in serious combat a dangerous choice. In emergencies they can wieldswords inThe Sacred Stones, orknives inRadiant Dawn, to defend themselves, but they are best left well away from combat unless an item needs to be stolen. The Sacred Stones further adds to their utility by giving them thePick skill, allowing them to open doors and chests without relying on the limiteduses oflockpicks, althoughRadiant Dawn has all Thief-related classes operate without lockpicks by default.

Japanese

ローグ
盗賊ローグ

• Officially romanized asRogue. This katakana name is used only inThe Sacred Stones.
• Officially romanized asRogue; literally "thief". This kanji name is used only inRadiant Dawn, where all Japanese class names are spelled primarily in kanji (i.e.盗賊), with a foreign-language name in katakana applied asfurigana (i.e.ローグ) and used as the basis for the romanized name in the class roll.
The kanji盗賊 is actually used as the name for the basicThief class in the majority of otherFire Emblem games; the Japanese version ofRadiant Dawn instead calls that class盗人.
