Analysis

This character analysis section may not be accurate to every player's experience.

Robert joins as a level 1Arch Knight with bad base stats, except for passable speed. His weapon ranks are also horrible - he has an E-rank in bows with no weapon experience and no other weapon types that he can use. As a level 1 unit, Robert is far away from promotion, and he has no skills, either. While he has 3 FCM, it takes him a very long time to get the weapon rank for theKiller Bow, and the selection of bows before B rank range from awful to decent yet not good enough to compensate for Robert's statistical issues.

He needs 100 bow exp and a promotion to reach B rank bows, which is a massive amount for a unit who is locked to attacking at 2-range, and therefore can usually only attack once per turn. Chapter 14 is a chapter where most units can reach promotion and become decent, but Robert's bow rank is so low that even ifLara dances for him every turn, he will still need another 60 bow exp from other chapters, and chapters 10-12x are all very hard chapters to train him up in (aside from 11x) so he will likely still need training during the route split chapters. TheBrave Bow is an incredible weapon that allows any bow user to reliably kill enemies, so not having access to it hurts Robert's killing power compared to his competition.

If the player does decide to put up with Robert's awful start, they will be rewarded with a unit who can use the Brave Bow with a good enough FCM to reach 100% crit. While this isn't a niche that is necessary by any means, with lots of other viable boss-killers by the time the Brave Bow is available, it is a significantly better weapon than the Kingmaker, the best generic boss-killing sword. It has 25 more hit than the Kingmaker, 1 more might, and can hit from range which lets it safely hit some bosses with dangerous 1-range weapons like Porcus with theBerserk Sword. While magic weapons are more desirable for bosses on thrones, there are some bosses where having 20attack speed is required to double them, and even the lightest tome will always weigh the user down by 1.

Personality

Robert is nondescript, and given no explicit personality traits. His ending suggests that he is timid and sheepish. His profile on theThracia 776 website mentions he is a war orphan and that he has an attachment toSelphina.[1] His supports suggest he also has some connection toGlade though the game never elaborates on it.

Endings

Robert, Bow Knight of Leonster
After his strong requests, Robert was put in the new Kingdom of Thracia's royal guard. Robert himself was probably trying his best to be a legendary warrior, but he never could fix his timidity. Apparently, more than a few of the female servants in the castle found his sheepish nature cute.
