Reina starts as a level 1Kinshi Knight in both theBirthright andRevelation campaigns. Her base stats are identical between routes, with her strength and speed being outstanding, which are also her standout growth rates. She has the personal skillMorbid Celebration, which allows her to heal 20% of her HP when defeating a foe if she initiates combat, acting as a downgraded but freely available version ofLifetaker. Starting as a Kinshi Knight is good primarily inBirthright due to the route having limited access to reliable 2-range lances, as the player only obtains a singleJavelin fromSilas and theBolt Naginata deals magic damage and has several noteworthy drawbacks. Having access to bows, alongside theAir Superiority skill eventually granting her +30hit andavoid when facing flying enemies, allows the Kinshi Knight to become a ranged threat compared to other lance-wielding classes.
In terms of reclassing,Basara andMechanist are both desirable options to obtain skills from.Rend Heaven gives her, at base, a 21% chance to add further damage to her attack, andQuixotic allows her to in large part bypass the drawbacks of her rather low skill growth alongside maintaining the former skill's viability in the long term, though her high speed and low defense may turn this into a double-edged sword.Golembane grants her effective damage againstStoneborn and other Mechanists, which can have some niche utility inBirthright's endgame but the main skill Mechanist grants isReplicate, creating an exact copy of the user. While it is a powerful skill when used correctly, it also doubles the chances of Reina being killed due to sharing HP with her replica and her aforementioned low defense.
Reina lacks supports outside ofCorrin, as well asKana if she is her mother, meaning she has next to no access to support bonuses, hindering her potential compared to other members of the army. While obtaining an S support with Reina is one of the few options that will allow the player to obtain all child units in either route she's available, her low personal growth rates make her an unfavorable mother compared to other options.

Reina loves the thrill of battle and the death of her enemies, it's also learned in her support conversations with Corrin that even though she does not think she's a good fit for it, she enjoys cooking and doing housework as a way to honor her parents. Reina is often shown to be kind and nurturing outside of the battlefield, as seen in her support with female Corrin when she helps an old man with directions, In addition, Reina can be seen to be slightly clumsy and sees value in familial bonds.
