Mystery of the Emblem Book 2
This chapter has two objectives, moving the balk of your army up the right side, while sendingArran with theSilver Lance and aVulnerary up the left to intercept theLadybladethief before turn 6. When selecting deployment slots, make sure Arran is in the fourth slot (third afterMarth) to make sure he starts on the left side of the forest.
General tips:
- Draug and Arran are the only units who can safely lure out the wyverns from the upper forts without much risk.
- Arran,Gordin,Ryan, andWarren are the only ones who can deal meaningful damage to the wyverns.
- The boss moves if you leave a unit in range, make sure todismount Arran or any of your cavaliers if they are within 11 spaces of the boss.
- IfCatria winds up in archer range, dismount her to avoid effective damage.
- The AI will prioritize attackingMarisha over killing other units, and with her base stats she can survive a hit fromLumel.
Guide:Send Arran up left to catch the thief, moving the rest of your army right while keeping in mind to range of the hunters and Warren. Use a cavalier to lure the hunters down. Have Marth, Draug, Catria, and the bulkiest cavalier be your front line, making sure to go around the forest instead of through it. Keep your archers andMarisha don't lag too far behind the front lines. Press Arran up the left side, tanking the wyvern on the leftmost side on enemy phase of turn 2, use the Vulnerary if needed. Make sure to keep Arran out of the boss's range to avoid theRidersbane. On the right side, when you clear out the enemies that swarm your army, move Draug into attack range of the wyvern on the fort, then use your archers to take it out on player phase. Make sure he is fully healed and near Gordin and Ryan when baiting out Lumel, as he can double and possible crit Draug if you get unlucky. When Lumel attacks Draug, he is left wide open to you archers, use them to kill the boss, or chip him to allow someone else finish him off. Alternatively, you could put Arran on one of the forts unmounted to lure Lumel, then use the silver lance on player phase, but this is much riskier, and Arran could die, taking the Ladyblade with him.
New Mystery of the Emblem
Due to all the Dracoknights in this chapter (especially on Lunatic), the following chapter, and many future chapters, it is recommended to forge a strong bow; Iron Bow has better hit and can be used at E rank, while Steel Bow has better innate might. The stats it needs varies on the difficulty level and strength of the bow users, but a +7 Iron Bow or a +4 Steel Bow are going to be enough even on Lunatic mode, with each lower difficulty being able to get away with a progressively weaker forge. The cost of these forges is compensated by the long-term value they will provide. This is a useful chapter for a unit like Luke or Draug who is intended to become a Horseman in the lategame to gain experience and bow rank. It is also recommended to reclass someone to a flier due to all of the terrain.
The most immediate concern is the thief carrying aLadyblade: a sword with the stats of a Silver Sword than can be used by any female unit at E rank. The easiest way to get it is a flier (Arran in particular depending on the difficulty can one-shot him with theSilver Lance), though aCavalier orPaladin can handle him as well. TheHunters are fairly straightforwards to take care of: put units at the edge of their attack range and kill them the next turn while recruitingWarren. Make sure to move fast to kill the Hunters andSoldiers so the player can deal with the Cavaliers separately. Be careful to not aggro the enemy Dracoknights until the Cavaliers are dealt with.
Take time to use a save point, and prepare your units for the Dracoknights. They will all rush forwards (including the boss) as soon as one of them is provoked, so put a unit in range of one of them (ideally someone who hits hard) and position your bow users and other strong combat units to kill them the following turn. Try to trade the forged bow around if possible to take care of the Dracoknights. Once the Dracoknights are dead the map is effectivly over, barring Marth siezng the throne.
