APupil (Japanese:魔道士見習いMage Apprentice) is a new practicer of magic. This class is exclusive toEwan, a character inFire Emblem: The Sacred Stones. Thus, the description of the class refers to Ewan and his teacherSaleh, asage and master of magic. Ewan is an inexperienced user of magic. At first, a pupil can only usefire magic.

However, the Pupil class is one of three "trainee" classes inThe Sacred Stones, which start out with very low stats at level 1 and only grow up to level 10, after which they can promote to another class at the start of the next battle. Since they have ten extra levels to gain stats, they often turn out to have very high stats.

Pupils can change class to either theMage orShaman class; as a mage, a pupil can become asage or amage knight, and as a shaman, he can become adruid or asummoner. After bothEirika andEphraim's routes are completed in the game, a third option is presented: the Pupil class again. This will be referred to as Pupil (2). This second pupil class can choose to promote to either a sage or a pupil again, which will be referred to as the Pupil (3) class; this class is also known as the "Super Pupil". The Pupil (3) class can useanima magic, light magic, anddark magic.

At first, pupils are very weak, with low stats all around. However, as they level up, they become very capable of attacking and dodging attacks. However, their defense remains quite low throughout this, like other magic-using classes.
