Luna (Japanese:月光Moonlight), known asPierce (Japanese:貫通Penetrate) inFire Emblem: The Sacred Stones, is anoffensive skill which debuted inFire Emblem: Genealogy of the Holy War. When activated, the user unleashes one strike which bypasses the enemy'sdefense and/orresistance to some extent, allowing the user to inflict significantly more damage to the enemy than usual. The skill's power and effects vary from game to game, with some games having Luna entirely nullify the enemy's defensive stats while others just halve the stats.

InGenealogy of the Holy War andThracia 776, Luna is a personal skill, associated primarily with some relatives of the royal family ofIsaach who bearOd holy blood. InThe Sacred Stones, Pierce is learned exclusively byWyvern Knights. InPath of Radiance, Luna is themastery skill of theGeneral andHalberdier classes, and inRadiant Dawn it is the mastery skill for theMarshall class. InAwakening andFates, Luna is learned only byGreat Knights, but can be possessed by units of any class byreclassing. Additionally, an enhanced, enemy-exclusive version of the skill exists inAwakening, namedLuna+, that always activates when its user attacks. InEngage, Luna is exclusive to theTireur d'élite andWarden (bow variant) classes.

Fire Emblem Cipher

Luna is present as a skill on one card inFire Emblem Cipher:B06-029HN Wielder of Luna, Chulainn. It is a trigger skill which activates automatically when Chulainn is used to attack the opponent's lord unit. If the player chooses to do so, Luna also allows him to automatically destroy one other enemy unit with a cost of 3 or less in addition to their attack on the opponent's lord, in exchange for flipping three bond cards face-down.

Trivia

• InRadiant Dawn, the North American description for the Black Knight erroneously states that it wields Luna instead of Eclipse. This error occurred due to Luna and Eclipse sharing the same Japanese name. This was corrected in the PAL release.
• Although in its first five appearances Luna is associated with a blue flash upon activation or striking, inAwakening a Luna blow instead shines yellow when striking the enemy.
• Unused text strings exist inPath of Radiance that refer to Luna's name from the Jugdral games. It was translated as Moonblade in the English version.
• The western localizations ofThe Sacred Stones introduced a bug, where a unit activating the skill may soft-lock the game if they follow up with a ranged lance when battle animations are on.
