Petrify (Japanese:ストーンStone), known asStone inThe Sacred Stones, is adark tome which inflicts thePetrify status effect upon enemies.
In its debut appearance inThracia 776, the tome was wielded byVeld of theLoptr Church, was used to petrifyEyvel, and its effects could only be reversed with theKia staff. InThe Sacred Stones, Stone acts as a dark-magicmonster weapon wielded byGorgons; like most monster weapons, it is not depicted as physically being a magic tome.

Trivia
- According toThe Sacred Stones prototype, Stone was one of the first monster weapons implemented, with the placeholderStone Shard being before it in the item listing. Despite this, the version of Stone in the prototype is not fully functional and crashes the game when used.
- Prototype Stone's stats are the same as the final revision ofThe Sacred Stones with one exception: it is an actual dark tome, using theFlux icon and has a requisiteweapon level of D.
- Petrify's Japanese description inThracia 776 claims that it can only be used by Veld, but it is not a personal weapon and can be used by any dark magic user with an A level in dark magic.
- Petrify has the same name asStone in the Portuguese version ofHeroes.
