Analysis

Orochi is a level 5Diviner starting in Chapter 7 inBirthright and Chapter 11 inRevelation. Her stat distribution is mostly typical for a magic character. She has low HP, strength, and defense. Consequently, she has high magic and resistance. She also has a great skill base and growth, a middling speed base and bad growth, and her luck base and growth leaves something to be desired. Her personal skill allows her to capture generic enemies and send them to theMy Castle's prison to potentially be persuaded to fight for you. Her D in scrolls lets her use therat,ox,horse, andsheep spirits, as well as the D and E ranked tomes onRevelation.

Orochi is best off capitalizing on her magic stat, meaning the best promotion would beOnmyoji. Onmyoji is great since increases her magic and resistance growths, gives her staff utility, and gives the great skill ofTomefaire for extra damage. However, Onmyoji does not solve her physical bulk issues.Basara could be a better class since it does fix her bulk by a decent amount by giving +5 HP, +6 defense, and still giving +3 resistance like Onmyoji. This does, however, make her speed problems a bit worse by reducing her speed growth slightly, but Orochi will most often kill foes in one shot with her massive magic stat and growth, especially with the lower enemy quality inBirthright. While Basara caps out at B tomes, it's still potentially a better class unless the player want to use theDragon orSnake Spirits, but those generally aren't great weapons in most situations.

On the subject of reclassing, Orochi can reclass to anApothecary, and promote to eitherMechanist orMerchant. Apothecary is not a great reclass since it does not increase her strength stat and growth a whole lot, and more importantly, will make her speed problems worse with a reduced growth and stat.Potent Potion andQuick Salve are great utility skills, but Orochi may struggle to obtain them without other units severely weakening enemies for her to get kills from. Merchant further reduces her speed growth, but does improve her HP, luck, and defense growth by a bit. However, her luck is not increased to the point whereProfiteer andSpendthrift strategies become viable without investment withGoddess Icons andLuck Tonics. The one way that could save this option would be theShining Bow, but it's unavailable onBirthright, and other characters make better use of the weapon onRevelation. Mechanist improves her bulk and accuracy, but also does not increase her strength to the point where she can use physical weapons without help.Golembane isn't super useful onBirthright sinceStoneborn are the only enemies you'll fight that activate this skill.Revelation gives this more use sinceValla lets you fightMechanists and Valla-allied Stoneborn.Replicate is another great skill that has potential for any unit, but Orochi's generally low bulk makes the skill trickier to use since she must stay out of combat range to have the greatest chance of survival.

On the subject ofFriendship Seal options, Orochi has a couple options.Rinkah is a good option, especially if she is trained to be anOni Chieftain that can use magic well. Giving theOni Savage class, Orochi is fine with using Oni Chieftain since it can use tomes, and her bulk issues are fixed a bit as well, but her speed growth is reduced slightly.Death Blow for twenty extra crit on player phase is great , butCounter is overall too risky to use since Orochi will not want to be in prolonged combat. Orochi will not want to useBlacksmith unless she getsArms Scrolls for theBolt Axe, orLevin Sword onRevelation.Lancebreaker is a good skill, but it will take quite a bit of investment to actually get.Oboro gives theSpear Fighter class tree, whereSeal Defense andSeal Speed are unnecessary due to Orochi's ability to one shot units with her high magic. This option is a bit worse since Orochi already has access to Basara, and Orochi will not make good use of theSpear Master class unless Orochi uses theBolt Naginata to getLancefaire, and then has Basara as her final class using both tomes and the Bolt Naginata.Kagero gives theNinja class tree, which Orochi will not be able to use well since shurikens are the weakest weapon type, and she can already promote to Mechanist from her base Apothecary.Master Ninja'sLethality andLocktouch are the only skills Orochi would want, but they both are unnecessary since either she kills very well with her magic, or the fact that many other units can get Locktouch.Nyx as aRevelation exclusive limits her usingDark Mage, but she will use it very well.Heartseeker andBowbreaker are very useful skills for Orochi, with Heartseeker reducing the foe's avoid, and Bowbreaker giving extra hit and avoid when fighting bows, giving a greater chance at avoiding damage.Dark Knight'sLifetaker is another good skill, but Orochi won't be able to take many hits without dying, and it only works on player phase, making the skill considerably less useful in her hands. This option is also not as great since she can also get Dark Mage from marryingOdin, and both him and his daughterOphelia appreciate using the Diviner class, as they can only get it from this pairing.

Orochi: Merry Diviner
Orochi is a diviner from Hoshido who serves Queen Mikoto. She’s a fun-loving Hero who loves jokes and pranks!	In fact, Orochi comes from a long line of diviners. She even has the power to read fortunes, but people weren’t always happy with the outlook for their future and blamed the diviners for it.	Not Mikoto, though! Mikoto treated Orochi with a mother’s love and gave her a post as a royal retainer. To repay this kindness, Orochi swore that she would give her all for Hoshido.	Nothing is dearer to Orochi than Mikoto and Hoshido. I’m no clairvoyant, but I can see a sparkling future for Hoshido shining in her eyes!
