Theonline shop (Japanese:オンラインショップonline shop) is a feature of the twoNintendo DS installments of theFire Emblem seriesFire Emblem: Shadow Dragon andFire Emblem: New Mystery of the Emblem—which made use of theNintendo Wi-Fi Connection online service. Functionally anarmory and thus run by an Armorer, the online shop offered a wide assortment ofitems, including several not typically available in the in-game shops.

The online shop included items that would typically be offered byvendors, and thusLarabel, in-game. The online shop model would eventually go on to serve as the default armory model inAwakening.

The online shop did not offer its entire assortment of items simultaneously. InShadow Dragon, items were available on a set schedule, ensuring some of its inventory was different each day of a week or in certain times of a month; the date went by the online shop's servers, and altering the Nintendo DS clock would not have an effect.[what about virtual console?] InNew Mystery of the Emblem, items were instead made available at random, and eight items were available per day.

Along with most Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection services, the online shops in bothShadow Dragon andNew Mystery of the Emblem permanently closed on May 20th, 2014.[1] ForShadow Dragon, this had the effect of rendering theElysian Whip (and in turn theFalcoknight class) as essentiallyunused content, and theBrave weapons exclusive to enemies inMerciless Mode, for new save files created after that date on original cartridges. Likewise,Clarisse's battle and defeat quotes inChapter 3x ofNew Mystery of the Emblem similarly became de-facto unused content as the only way to reach her before she leaves is to use anAnew staff from the online shop. However, theVirtual Console re-release ofShadow Dragon restores the ability to freely access the online shop (changed into an offline shop),[2] and fans have created custom servers to access Nintendo WFC again (such as Wiimmfi).[3]
