O Sword Saint Od, with Balmung the divine in hand, repel the blight
— A poem composed by aGrannvale villager

Od (Japanese:オードOdo), dubbed the "Sword Saint" (Japanese:聖剣士Holy Swordsman or剣聖Sword Saint) was a member of theTwelve Crusaders, the original wielder ofBalmung and the founder of the Kingdom ofIsaach.

Biography

As with the other Crusaders, Od was a warrior fighting in a revolution against the tyranny of theLoptrian Empire, and was one of the survivors barricaded inDahna Fortress when the tide turned against their movement. It was at this fortress that theMiracle of Dahna occurred, changing the tide of the war: Od was chosen by an unidentified member of the twelvedragon "gods" who descended upon the fortress, to undergo ablood-bond with said dragon, transforming him into one of the Crusaders. He was grantedBalmung, sealed to his new holy lineage, by this dragon.

With the other Crusaders, Od fought in the rest of theHoly War and contributed to the downfall of the Loptrian Empire. At the war's conclusion, Od foundedIsaach and reigned as its first king.
