Fire Emblem: The Binding Blade
Biography
When he was a child, Noah's village was attacked by bandits, but he and his entire village were saved byKarel. Since then he has greatly admired the "Sword Saint."
Noah is a mercenary knight, fighting under the command of GeneralZelot. Some time before the game's events, he is chosen to accompany his captain toOstia, where they are hired to fight forLycia againstBern. However, once they reach the city, they discover thatthe Ostian leader has died and a rebellion aims to surrender the city—and Lycia's remaining forces—to Bern. Out of loyalty to their employer, the Zelot's mercenaries refuse to side with the rebels, and choose to assistRoy and the Lycia Alliance Army.
Shortly before Roy's army arrives in Ostia, Noah is approached byFir, aSacaean myrmidon traveling the world to hone her sword skills, and challenged to an arena match. Instead, Noah coaches Fir on the rules of the arena, such as picking an opponent and knowing when to surrender a fight.[1] When the two are ready to part ways, the battle in Ostia has already begun, and Noah sets out to join up with the rest of the Lycian army, helping Roy, alongside the other Ilian mercenaries, to take back Castle Ostia, and rescueLilina from the rebels.
When Roy and his army depart for theWestern Isles, Noah again encounters Fir under the employ of the pirate leaderScott. Scott deceived Fir into thinking the Lycia Alliance Army was a band of brigands, and convinces her to attack them, tailed by one of his henchmen who planned to steal Fir'sWo Dao in the confusion of battle. Seeing Noah, Fir attacks him, thinking he was lending his services to bandits, however Noah is able to clear up the confusion, and convinces her to lend her services to Roy and the Lycia Alliance Army.
After the war reaches its conclusion, Noah leaves Zelot's mercenary band, and sets out to test his abilities as a lone mercenary knight. Noah never joins another group, preferring to travel as a lone mercenary, and inspiring many others with his solitary strength.
Role
Noah is a playable character. He first appears as anNPC, and can be recruited by havingRoy orZelot talk to him.

Analysis
| This character analysis section may not be accurate to every player's experience. |
Noah is the last of all four unpromoted cavaliers to join inThe Binding Blade, joining in chapter 7, appearing a few turns after his fellow mercenary Trec and their leader Zelot.
Right off the bat, Noah being a cavalier already counts as a point in his favor. Cavaliers are some of the best units in the game, boasting okay combat abilities at worst but also possessing an extra weapon type when compared to other and being able to contribute to rescue-drop strategies, as well as being able to Canto.
Noah starts off with average, well-rounded stats across the board, with a solid 9 basespeed. Although it doesn't double much, especially in hard mode, it does help him to avoid getting followed up. It's also worth noting that Noah has an extra point ofconstitution more than his fellow cavaliers, having 10 instead of 9, allowing him to maintain his speed while using steel swords. He also starts out with pretty good weapon levels: D level in Lances, allowing him to useSteel Lances andJavelins, and C level in swords, giving him immediate access toKilling Edges and many other special swords.
Noah'sstrength, and speed growths, while not horrible, are underwhelming when combined with his average bases. The Binding Blade is a game where enemies scale quickly, and a viable unit will be expected to have solid stats in these areas. Noah will have a hard time keeping up with the rest of the army when his stats are as underwhelming as they will usually be.Alen andLance will usually be ahead of Noah in these areas, and he will have to compete with the two for aKnight Crest.
All in all, Noah is a unit who can contribute to the fight one way or another, though he may not be as good at fighting as his comrades. He is a good unit to deploy when you have an extra slot, and seeing as promotion bonuses are great inThe Binding Blade, it would definitely not be a bad idea to promote him, provided his promotion doesn't get in the way of anyone else's.

Personality
Due to frequently hearing of his former comrades' deaths,[2] Noah prefers to keep his distance from others so that he doesn't feel the pain of having lost someone close to him.[3] In spite of this, deep down he cares deeply about those he fights alongside,[4] and ends up unwittingly befriending Trec[5] and Grant.[6] He is also deeply devoted to providing for his village, sending the money he earns as a mercenary to provide for them.[7] Noah's mercenary lifestyle has given him keen perception skills,[8][9] and he is often able to improvise the right decisions in battle without the need for a direct command.[10] He is also shown to be an excellent sword coach to Fir, having taught her many lessons about swordsmanship and the world around her.[11]

Noah: No problem. But I must say you surprised me. You suddenly came up to me and said, "I want to fight a match with you!"
Fir: I-I'm sorry, Sir Noah. It was my first time in the arena...
Noah: If you asked another person, you would have been killed. You need to look your opponent over very carefully before choosing to fight.
Fir: And you must not hesitate to surrender if it looks like you're going to lose. Right?
Noah: Exactly. You can always win back your money, but if you lose your life, it's all over.
