Lances (Japanese:槍Lance) are a type of weapon in theFire Emblem series. In theweapon triangle, they are more effective againstswords and less effective againstaxes. They are generally the most balanced of the three, with average strength and accuracy.
InFire Emblem Fates, theirHoshidan counterpart is called thenaginata (Japanese:薙刀naginata). They are almost exactly the same as lances and share a weapon level, differentiated by the effect of that, when equipped, they increase the wielder's defense and resistance by 1, and, on average, they have lower might.

Greatlances
Greatlances (Japanese:長槍Spear) are a variation on the standard iron, steel and silver lances featured only inRadiant Dawn. Characterised as larger and heavier lances, they possess greaterpower than their basic counterparts at the expense of greaterweight and lowerhit.
