Merrin (Japanese:メリンMerin) is a playable character inFire Emblem Engage. She is the daughter of a Solmic village chief, one ofTimerra's retainers.
Biography
Merrin is a palace soldier ofSolm and a retainer of Princess Timerra.[2]

Merrin is a prepromoted Wolf Knight who joins with high base stats for the midgame. Her bases are excellent to average at worst, with notably high strength, dexterity, luck and speed, along with high weapon ranks inswords anddaggers. Due to this combination, Merrin can both deal notable damage to enemies and double them without issue, while having reasonable bulk and high movement. Merrin also has high enough magic to make use of theLevin Sword for hitting enemies with low resistance. Unfortunately, Merrin's growth rates are somewhat less impressive, with good growths in dexterity and speed, but mediocre strength and magic growths, which can leave her coming up short on damage numbers very late in the game. Along with this, Merrin specialises in using swords and daggers, which offer comparatively less damage than axes and lances. Luckily, daggers inflicting the enemies with thePoison status effect, combined with Merrin's starting class giving herHobble, means that even without killing an enemy she can still significantly cripple them.
Merrin's personal skill,Knightly Escort, offers her more utility due to being easy to set up and giving +5 hit rate, +5 avoid to user and female allies within two spaces. This isn't a signficiant boost, but the boost still offers further reliability to her and other female units. This personal skill also works withCall Doubles if Merrin is engaged with theRing of the Lady of the Plains.
Merrin's personal class is fairly strong already, but Merrin's base stats and growths offer her a wide array of potential classes to reclass into with aSecond Seal. She can reclass into theWarrior class for access to axes and additional strength, as well as theMerciless skill, theWyvern Knight also offers Merrin the same benefits, but also flying utility instead of access to bows andAir Raid for even more speed. Merrin can also reclass into a magic class, such as theMage Knight as it gives her access toChaos Style, which gives her +3 speed if she initiates combat with a physical attack against a foe armed with magic or vice versa. Chaos Style pairs nicely with Merrin's high bases allowing her to be a strong combat unit against both magic and physical enemies.
On the topic ofEmblem Rings, Merrin can work well with most Emblem Rings. Her best option during her join time is theRing of the Princess Exalt asBonded Shield pairs nicely with Merrin's high-movement base class, high avoid and personal skill. Along with this, theDual Strike skill synergises well with daggers and their ability to inflict the Poison status effect during achain attack. TheRing of the Azure Twins significantly improves Merrin's damage output, letting her one roundCorrupted enemies in the lategame. TheRing of the Instructor is also an option for Merrin as it gives her access toAreadbhar, as well as giving her the ability to dance multiple units at once with theGoddess Dance. Finally, theRing of the Holy Knight is another strong option for Merrin as it offers her more movement,Momentum for additional damage andCanter which lets Merrin move even after completing an action.
Overall, Merrin is an incredibly strong and flexible unit that can fill multiple roles in the player's army for little investment, while being a standout combat unit during the midgame for 0 cost.

Suave Knight Merrin
Merrin traveled with Timerra, gathering material for her book on rare creatures. Through it had few readers upon publication, the work came to be treasured for its insights on dragons.
In her later years, Merrin went back home and took her place as matriarch, uniting her village.
Divine Dragon Alear & Suave Knight Merrin
Alear became the new Divine Dragon Monarch. His/Her bonds with the rulers of each nation resulted in lasting peace.
After handing leadership of her village to one of her brothers, Merrin studied animals. Her book on the Divine Dragon Monarch was treasured for generations.
