| “ | No—I'm a swordswoman, a Myrmidon, like my mother before me! I'm the daughter of Eyvel of Fiana! No mere bandit could defeat me! | ” | — Mareeta |

Mareeta (Japanese:マリータMareeta) is a princess of the fallen Ribaut nobility ofIsaach, the daughter of its PrinceGalzus and a full-blooded descendant of the CrusaderOd.
As a child, she was abducted by slave traders inConnacht and separated from Galzus, and was rescued and adopted by the mercenaryEyvel and lived with her in theThracian village ofFiana. As a member of Eyvel'sFiana Freeblades, she helped to fight bandit aggression across Thracia's east coast, until she and her friendNanna were abducted byRaydrik ofMunster, sparking the rise ofLeif's revolution army.
Biography
When she was a child, as she was away from her fatherGalzus, Mareeta was abducted by a slave trader. She was saved byEyvel, who adopted her and brought her toFiana.
Years later, as PrinceLeif ofLeonster was hiding in Fiana,Raydrik came to the village in his pursuit. However, as Leif was away, Raydrik decided to take Mareeta andNanna hostage and brought them toMunster. There, Raydrik gave Mareeta theShadow Sword, corrupting her. He then forced the now-brainwashed Mareeta to fight Eyvel. However, Mareeta's memory of Eyvel made her unable to fight at full power. Annoyed, Raydrik stopped the battle and had Eyvel petrified. Mareeta was then taken away in secret byGalzus, who gave her to bishopSaias to heal her. Saias brought Mareeta to Dacia Forest, where he was able to heal her from her corruption, and gave her the now purified Shadow Sword,Mareeta's Sword. As bandits attacked the house she was in, Mareeta decided to fight them. In a turn of good fortune, Leif's forces happened to be in the area, and she rejoined with them. During her travel, she met withShannam, an imposter of PrinceShannan ofIsaach; following his advice, she was able to master the power ofAstra.
Around a year later, Leif's forces came back to Munster. Here, she recognized Galzus as her father, and convinced him to join them in their fight against Raydrik. Then, she reunited with Eyvel, now freed from her petrification.

Analysis
| This character analysis section may not be accurate to every player's experience. |
Mareeta wieldsMareeta's Sword, a personal brave sword with 20 crit that providesNihil to the wielder. HerFCM of 5 means that she will get 100% crit rates on both of her follow-up attacks when wielding this sword. This makes her the best physical boss killer in the game, though magical attacks are still better for their ability to bypass the +10 defense of gates and thrones. This is most notable against bosses likeEichmann who are too fast to be doubled by magic units, though she will need capped speed and +1 con.Luna,Adept,Astra, and heraction star will increase her reliability, as the damage increase and extra attacks can compensate for a miss. Nihil is also useful againstBaron bosses, as it will disablePavise.
Unfortunately, she joins with very low HP, defense, and strength, so her combat ability at base level is poor without her personal sword. While she has great growth rates, it will take some time for her stats to catch up. Her defense and HP growth are also not spectacular, which means with her poor bases she will often have durability issues. Mareeta has the misfortune of joining Leif's army at a time when excellent fighting skills are not as valuable as they were before. Most units can kill enemies, and Mareeta's combat is overkill outside of boss fights. Additionally, late-game bosses often useMaster Lances orMaster Axes, which have high attack power and arebrave weapons; they can often 2HKO Mareeta, and even if she can bring them down to 1% hit, she still faces a small, if present, chance of death if the boss gets to attack.
Overall, Mareeta is a growth unit with high combat potential, but she struggles to contribute anything meaningful when she joins.
Mareeta is playable as aSpotPass character, released in theThracia 776 character set. She is also present as an enemy in thefirst andthird installments of theLost BloodlinesDLC series.

Mareeta, Sword of Stars
Still ashamed of her lack of discipline for having been possessed by the Shadow Sword, Mareeta embarked on a journey to train and better herself—alone. Before long, she grew into a formidable swordswoman, one whose name was known throughout the continent. But no matter how well-known she became, she would always say, "I'm nothing compared to my mother."
