Marcelus (Japanese:マルセレスMarcellus) was the successor of his brotherAnri as the King ofAltea. All subsequent Altean kings are his descendants.
Biography
Marcelus was originally an ordinary peasant living with his brotherAnri on the remote islands ofAltea. WhenArtemis, the princess ofArchanea, came in hiding to flee theDolhr Empire, Anri decided to fight against Dolhr and slayedMedeus in theyear 500. Following Medeus's death in the war later known as theWar of Liberation, Anri founded the Kingdom of Altea in the islands of his homeland, and became its first king. As Anri died unmarried and childless in the year 537, Marcelus succeeded him as the new king of Altea. His ascension sparked a dispute among the nobility resulting in the foundation ofGra, which would still remain a close Altean ally for decades.
