Malice (Japanese:マリスMaris) is a wandering mercenary ofArchanea, working in partnership with her fatherDice. In the early days of theWar of Shadows, she and Dice were involved in a bandit raid on theDolhr/Grust-occupiedPalace, and after the war's conclusion were hired to join a rebellion inTalys, but were convinced byOgma to stand down. Later, in theWar of Heroes, they encountered and joinedMarth's forces inKhadein.

Fire Emblem: Archanea Saga

Role

Malice and Dice had been hired byVaam's bandit group in their raid on Palace, and the two were disappointed to find that Vaam's group were relentless in their desire to kill anyone in their way. They were approached byRickard, who was leading another band in a separate raid on Palace, who convinced them to join his group for a down-payment of 1000 gold.

Analysis

Malice joins with underwhelming base stats that are comparable toNavarre, who joins earlier and is force deployed on a map where he can notably contribute. In contrast Malice becomes playable inChapter 11 when most sword users likeMarth,Luke and many others have surpassed her and she offers little in return. Malice's growth rates also aren't particularly notable forNew Mystery standards, though they are still quite high. Luckily, Malice joins at level 10, meaning that she can early promote and thanks to her C rank in swords she isn't far away from A rank swords in theSwordmaster class, which grants her +3 damage. Malice can also wield the powerfulLadyblade sword thanks to being a female unit. However, most of Malice's strengths are achievable by other strong playable female units and sword users, while she offers little in return.

Overall, Malice is an underwhelming filler unit whose most likely outclassed by the time she joins the player's army.

Fire Emblem Awakening

Malice appears as an ally unit in the DLC chapterLost Bloodlines 1, and as an enemy unit in the DLC chaptersLost Bloodlines 2 and3. A version of Malice is playable viaSpotPass as part of theNew Mystery of the Emblem character set.

Here's Malice, a wandering mercenary! She and her father, Dice, were recruited by Marth to fight alongside the Altean army.	Malice always has money on her mind, but not without good reason. As it turns out, Dice has a bit of a gambling habit, and he doesn't always have the best of luck...	Still, Malice loves her father, and the two get along well. Not exactly what I'd expect from someone called Malice, so that's a pleasant surprise!	Through her mercenary work, Malice does her best to repair the family finances. She's clearly a capable swordswoman, but she gets painfully shy when someone pays her a compliment. In fact, she gets so flustered that she often ends up brandishing her sword in respo— Yikes! Watch out!
