Analysis
| This character analysis section may not be accurate to every player's experience. |
Lute is the first anima magic user you get inThe Sacred Stones; she comes with fairly low bases, but high growth rates to compensate. Because of her early join-time and high growths, Lute's bases aren't a problem for long. In terms of weaknesses, Lute's low Con means all tomes weigh her down before promotion, though her relatively high Speed growth and the light weight of Anima tomes mean she still frequently doubles with some investment, especially with the lower enemy quality of most enemies inThe Sacred Stones. Her other major weakness is her low durability, though low enemy quality also helps with this, allowing her to survive at least a round or two of combat or even dodge tank. Upon promotion, Lute will become a very effective combat unit, often one rounding most enemies while also having access to D rank staves.
Lute has a choice between promoting toSage orMage Knight. Because of getting a significant promotion bonus in Constitution, effectively giving her +2 speed when using any tome besidesFire, and gaining one more point of movement and the ability toCanto, Mage Knight is easily the superior choice. Sage can use Light Magic, but Lute will generally use Anima tomes except against Dark Magic users, who usually have high resistance and are better killed by physical attackers. Sage also has a higher magic cap, but Lute only hits this cap on average after a total of 26 levels, and does not have issues dealing damage even after hitting the cap.
Overall, Lute is a very strong unit after a little investment thanks to her high offensive growths, becoming even stronger after promotion. Her low durability is her greatest weakness, though it's not enough to keep her from being a powerful unit. She also has no competition for Anima magic for several chapters, giving her a unique niche in the earlygame that can allow her to springboard with a little training.
Lute is playable as aSpotPass character, released in theThe Sacred Stones character set. She is also present as an enemy in thesecond andthird installments of theSmash BrethrenDLC series.

Personality
Lute's most apparent trait is that she believes that she is a prodigy. She has a very mature and serious air and shows her vast amount of knowledge whenever speaking. She may truly be a prodigy, and she asserts her superiority often, such as whenKnoll dodged two of her magic shot and saying that he is a danger to her superiority. However, as shown in several conversations, she is not used to dealing with people normally. Although she is willing to hold conversations, she has difficulty with feelings such as love, shown in her A support conversation with Artur. Lute is a very avid reader and "monk-watcher" as she declares; watching Artur appears to be one of her favorite activities.
Lute originates from theZa'ha Woods along withArtur. The two lived in the settlements at the place peacefully until the monsters started to appear. Not much is known about Lute's past, but in her A conversation with Ross, she states that her grandmother said that Lute's parents are "traveling in distant lands". According to Lute, her grandmother is like "an elegant goldfish that's been sun-dried with a wildflower". Lute seems to speak about her grandmother as if she is still alive, implying that the two live together.
