Fire Emblem: The Binding Blade
Role
Lot is a member of a group of mercenaries led byDieck, which also includesShanna andWard. Previous to the game's events, he left his home in search of work. Ward's sister, Mary, offered to take care of his ailing mother and his sister. However, Lot's mother did not survive her illness.
LordEliwood, the marquess ofPherae, hires Dieck's mercenary group to helpRoy on his perilous journey. In Chapter 2, Lot and the rest of the band appear and join in the battle. After the battle, Lot stays with Roy for the rest of his quest.
When theLycian Army is fighting bandits in the Western Isles, they come across a small village. If Ward and Lot visit certain houses, their sisters will come and talk to them, giving themSpeedwings and aSwordreaver to help them in battle.
After Bern is defeated and the war is over, he returns to the Western Isles and marries Mary. He leads a happy life, but rarely talks about his role in the war.

Analysis
| This character analysis section may not be accurate to every player's experience. |
Lot joins with solid base stats (apart from Luck) but mediocre offensive growth rates. Being locked to axes means that he will have decent hit rates against lance users and will hit hard, but will overall have issues reliably hitting his opponents. His speed is average, meaning he will double fairly reliably on Normal Mode but will struggle to double any enemy with decent speed on Hard Mode. Compared to Ward, Lot is better early on and has more durability, but Ward has better long-term offense.
Lot's promotion into a Warrior is one of a hard difficulty to recommend simply due to the number of early game units vesting for the coveted Hero's Crest.Dieck andRutger have great base stats, whileFir andGonzalez are also strong units in their own right. The Warrior's promotion gains are incredible, particularly the 8 HP that the promotion gives, and with Lot's growth it's likely that he will cap his HP with this bonus. It also assists with his middling Speed growth and grants a sizable +3 Defense, improving his role as a tank. Bows also are a rather odd choice, as he already has no problem dealing with Pegasi and Wyverns with his triangle advantage, but the relatively high accuracy Bows have in comparison to most Axes inThe Binding Blade makes him a prime user of them against higher evasion enemies or attacking enemies in forests.
If a player is seeking to try something new, or simply appreciates Lot for being a somewhat oddball Fighter in Game Boy AdvanceFire Emblem, then they will find themselves enjoying him to his fullest. However, his mediocre offense and the high competition for his promotion item means that for most players his usefulness will be limited to the early game.
Personality
Between himself andWard, Lot seems himself as the calm, grounded one. He tends to act as an older brother to both Ward and Shanna, since he considers both[3] of them[4] to be too excitable and even childish. In fact, several characters comment that Lot worries too much for a man of his age.[5] He likes to think he is being realistic; however, that is not completely true. When his mother died, he told nobody, so they could not tell him to go back to his sister.[6] Besides, due to his lack of experience as a mercenary, Lot tends to trust too easily in employers according to Dieck.[7]
Lot also shows a quite impressive knowledge for someone of his social status; he is able to understand the logic behind the weapon triangle and can play theFire Emblem equivalent of chess.[8]
