Liprica (Japanese:リプリカLiprica) was the late Queen ofZofia and former priestess ofMila[1] mentioned inFire Emblem Gaiden andFire Emblem Echoes: Shadows of Valentia.
Biography
Years before theZofia-Rigel war Liprica was a priestess at the temple of Mila. She spent her tenure at the temple of Mila whileMila herself was there; her activities during this time are not deeply elaborated.
As is typical of the Zofian royal family,Lima IV made visits to the temple to seek Mila's guidance. During one of these visits her beauty attracted Lima IV's attention, and he had her kidnapped from its grounds[2] and obligated her to marry him. She died shortly after giving birth toCelica from an illness she supposedly contracted after the stress of participating in the royal court.[3]
Fire Emblem Gaiden
Role
Liprica is a background character that died before the events of the game, so her role is fairly minimal. Though her tragic story is an example of the corruption that plagued Zofia before the war withRigel. She never appears in-person inGaiden.
She does provide a royal family circlet to the priestess of the temple, which one of the priestesses gives toCelica allowing her to promote.
Fire Emblem Echoes: Shadows of Valentia
Role
Her role remains mostly the same as it did inGaiden, though an illustration of her does appear in the game.
She andLima IV haveplaceholder portraits in the game data, suggesting that the pair were going to appear in a standard dialogue scene at some point, possibly in aMemory Prism or another flashback-type scene.
Personality
Not much is known about Liprica, but her motherly love for Celica was not dulled by her contempt for Lima IV. She also did not openly hold any ill will to Celica'sRigelian-descended half-brotherConrad, unlike Lima's other concubines[4]
Liprica, after giving birth to Celica, swore that she would never allow her daughter to stand beforeMila.[5] It technically is not elaborated on why she said this, though it could be presumed that she detested the corrupt and hedonistic state that Mila allowed Zofia to fall into. It is also possible that she distrusted Mila for doing nothing about the fact that the Zofian King was free to kidnap her servants with seemingly no repercussions.
