Lightning (Japanese:ライトニングLightning), known asLight (Japanese:ライトLight) inPath of Radiance andRadiant Dawn, is alight magic tome which debuted inFire Emblem: Genealogy of the Holy War. In all of its appearances as a light magic tome, it is the most basic light tome. In most appearances as a light tome, it is the light equivalent toFire,Thunder,Wind, andFlux, statistically, functioning similarly to theBronze orIron Swords, possessing lowmight andweight relative to higherhit compared to its counterpart tomes. InGenealogy of the Holy War, however, it is closer to being a counterpart toElfire stat-wise, and inThracia 776 it is not a direct counterpart to other tomes, but it has a high critical rate.

InFates andEngage, Lightning functions differently. It is an uncategorizedtome, and it is abrave weapon, allowing its user to strike twice as many times as they normally would when they initiate an attack, but in exchange it has very low might and inflictstemporary stat reductions on its user after its use in itsFates iteration.

Trivia

• Micaiah is seen wielding a copy of Light in the "The Escape" cutscene inRadiant Dawn. When casting it, she recites a chant in theancient language, "Ekarif Magae Teiodasto Ieraka"; unlike other instances of the ancient language, this has no known meaning.
