Nohrian law is blunt on the subject of traitors. There is only one punishment... The sentence is death.
— Leo

Leo (Japanese:暗夜王子レオンDark Night Prince Leon) is the eighteenth chapter of theBirthright campaign inFire Emblem Fates. In this chapter,Corrin' army ventures through the Woods of the Forlorn en route to theNohrian capital, but must deal withLeo, his retainers, a horde ofFaceless, and marshes that hurt anyone of non-Nohrian heritage.

Plot

Main article:Leo (chapter)/Script

Corrin's army travels through the Woods of the Forlorn.Ryoma explains that the woods' darkness makes it difficult to Nohrians to track them, but also makes it difficult to traverse;Felicia is confident in navigating the woods as she and Flora explored them often, though remembering Flora saddens her.

Later, as the army approaches a graveyard in the woods, Corrin notices blue flames that encircle them; a number of Faceless suddenly emerge from the marshes.Leo reveals himself and taunts Corrin and the Hoshidans; they notice their strength is being drained by the marsh. Though Corrin does not wish to fight, Leo vents his frustrations with Corrin being the favored sibling and relishes the opportunity to prove himself superior, forcing them to battle.

Once Leo is defeated, Corrin refuses to kill him. Leo refuses to accept defeat at the hands of the Hoshidans, claiming they will ruin Nohr given the opportunity, but Corrin rebuffs this, stating that Garon is evil and must be stopped. Though Leo claims to still be able to kill Corrin with a spell, neither he nor Corrin act; Leo finally relents, and admits he does not hate Corrin. Leo refuses to join the Hoshidans and betray Garon, butAzura has him look into a magic crystal to show him something; Leo notes that Azura is Nohrian, but she refuses to explain further and advise him to seek the answers on the crystal. Leo advises that Corrin visitNotre Sagesse to meet theRainbow Sage and try to matchXander's strength; before he leaves, he gives them a magic tome that can teleport the army to Notre Sagesse and back to the woods.

Summary

Flora's tragic end renews the group's determination to defeat King Garon. The most direct route to the capital requires passing through the darkest forest in Nohr.

Strategy

This section has been marked as astub. Please help improve the page by adding information.

This section details unofficial strategies that may help with completion of the chapter. This may not work for everybody.

Nohrian units are unaffected by the marsh tiles, so Nohrian units such as Silas, Jakob, and Felicia can be valuable for the ability to position more freely. Additionally, if a child unit has one Nohrian parent and one Hoshidan parent, they will also be unaffected by the marsh, meaning that Kana, Sophie, Dwyer, and any Hoshidan child units with either Corrin or Felicia as their mother will also be able to position freely. This does not apply to Azura, however.
