TheLancer (Japanese:ランサーLancer) is an infantryclass exclusive toFire Emblem Fates. They wieldlances as their name implies, and they play the same role as theSoldier class of earlier games. They are primarily anenemy-only class and no ordinary playable units can be Lancers, although it is possible for the player tocapture generic enemy Lancers andpersuade them to join their army.
Like Soldiers before them, Lancers are characterized as ordinary and lowly soldiers with no notable abilities of their own, and are weaker and lowlier than members of other classes. Compared to other classes which enemies have, Lancers have noticeably lower stats and worse overall stat potential. Their stats are overall fairly balanced and average, with no clear strengths or weaknesses, and are not particularly difficult enemies to defeat.
Lancers cannotchange class at all, and the class is treated as aspecial class with a maximum level cap of 40. Their maximum stats are comparable to the maximums of promoted classes, although they are slightly lower, and theirweapon level potential is also as low as an unpromoted unit's.

Class skills
The Lancer class has no skills of its own. However, like other enemy units, enemy Lancers are assigned skills from other classes—both base and advanced—and will retain these skills when captured.
