King Daein
| ||||||
|
TheKing Daein (Japanese:デイン国王King of Dayne) is anadvanced flyingclass which appears only inFire Emblem: Path of Radiance. This class is exclusive toAshnard, the titular king ofDaein and the game's final boss, and is similar to a more powerful version of the playableWyvern Lord class, riding aBlack Dragon mount. The class isenemy-only in the main story, but becomes a playable class in the game'sTrial Map mode when Ashnard himself is unlocked as the final bonus character. The class has access to swords and axes, although in the main story Ashnard will only ever use a single sword,Gurgurant.
The King Daein class is extremely powerful with by far the highest maximum stats in the game, and while some classes - mainlylaguz - may equal it in a single stat, none come close to it overall (onlyRed Dragons have a higher single maximum stat than this class, namelystrength). Compounding this is how, owing to the blessed armor Ashnard wears in the story, the class possesses a hiddenskill that renders him completely impervious to damage from all but a small few attacks; onlyIke withRagnell,Nasir,Ena,Tibarn,Naesala, andGiffca are able to damage Ashnard. Fighting Ashnard is an extended game of attrition, where the player's capable units must slowly chip away at him while having theirHP recovered, with the easiest way to defeat him - Ike activatingAether to bypass Ashnard's monstrousdefense stat - relying on sheer luck.
