Analysis
| This character analysis section may not be accurate to every player's experience. |
Kamui is aMercenary who joinsCelica's army in Act 2. He has decent base stats which allow him to contribute from the moment he joins, and he can promote toMyrmidon after only four levels. He can be viewed as a worse version of Saber: he has worse skill, speed, luck, and resistance than Saber, which hurt his reliability and ability to double enemy Mercenaries (which Saber is already borderline with). After promotion, he catches up to Saber in speed and skill, though he still lacks in luck and resistance. Kamui also has slightly worse HP and defense growths than Saber in exchange for marginally better attack and speed growths, and less opportunities for experience gain. He can still fulfill all of Saber's duties if the player wants home to do, and even if Saber is favored Kamui can promote into aDread Fighter for Act 4. Overall, while not a bad unit on paper, Kamui is massively overshadowed by Saber, and as such can struggle to make an impact before he can become a Dread Fighter.

Personality
Like many characters inGaiden he has little dialogue and characterization. He appears to be fairly relaxed, and is happy to join Celica on her journey after she helps him and Valbar.
His personality is expanded upon inEchoes: Shadows of Valentia. Kamui is portrayed as laid-back and carefree, with a love of money. He enjoys mercenary work for the sense of freedom and adventure it provides. Kamui also has a deathly fear of necrodragons.[2] He claims to normally not care about what others think of him, with being greeted sarcastically byLeon being the exception.[3]

Ending
Gaiden
IfJesse survived
Together with Jesse's group he works hard towards patching up the new country.
IfJesse did not survive
In the former territory of Grieth, he built a new country. Afterwards, he became known as the Desert Mercenary.
Echoes: Shadows of Valentia
IfJesse survived
Intrigued by Jesse's idea, Kamui helped to found a kingdom of mercenaries, and lived there happily for a time. In the end, however, his wanderlust prevailed—one day he went for a stroll and simply vanished, never to be seen again.
IfJesse did not survive
Kamui established a new kingdom of, and for, mercenaries in what was once Grieth's territory. Relations with Valentia were favorable, with Kamui often aiding the king in times of need. In later life, his efforts earned him fame and respect as "the Steel Amidst the Sand."
