Jill Fizzart (pronounced: /⁠dʒɪl fɪˈzɑɹt⁠/[key][3] Japanese:ジル・フィザットJill Fizzart) is aWyvern Rider fromTalrega, the daughter ofDaein generalShiharam. She joins the army during theMad King's War, but ends up fighting for the other side. InFire Emblem: Radiant Dawn, she returns to Daein to help rebuild her struggling country. She joins theGreil Mercenaries whilst they are aboardNasir's ship and fighting the raven laguz as she had followed the troop from land. She originally joined them to help destroy the "sub-humans", but ended up staying with them throughout the war.

Fire Emblem: Path of Radiance

Role

Jill first appears as an enemy inChapter 11, and she is tasked with observing the outcome of the battle. After the battle, if she was left alive, she wishes to pursue the Greil Mercenaries, but is warned against it byHaar.

Jill disobeys his orders and follows the Greil Mercenaries, intending to kill them for glory. She finds them inChapter 12, but they are being attacked by Kilvas pirates, and her deeply ingrained bigotry against the laguz causes her to fight on Ike's side. Once she talks to Ike, he confuses her by refusing her aid due to her bigotry, resulting in her reluctantly joining the army to learn more about the laguz.

In a base conversation inChapter 19, Haar sneaks his way into the camp and questions Jill about whether she really wants to fight her countrymen. Jill states that she will keep fighting. Haar warns her that she will eventually have to face her fatherShiharam before long, then leaves.

InChapter 20, Jill can speak to Shiharam. If she does not have an A support withMist, she will become an unrecruitable enemy unit.

Analysis

Jill is the first wyvern knight and second flier to join the party. She has decent base strength, skill, and defense, and mediocre base speed. In her join chapter, she is doubled by the raven laguz and loses 2 points of speed from the Steel Lance she starts with, but she also has a laguzguard equipped, so she is bulky enough to contribute immediately. As a wyvern knight, she has high movement, can fly and has Canto, which are all immensely useful immediately and through the entire game, especially over the next few chapters which have water and desert. She uses lances, giving her 1-2 range combat, and can immediately use Steel Lances. It is recommended to give Jill some levels of BEXP immediately, since she has excellent long-term payoff thanks to her class and growths.

Jill has decent growths across strength, skill, and speed, so she will quickly grow into a strong offensive unit. This is complemented by her promotion, which lets her use axes; while she starts with E rank axes, she can still use Hand and Steel axes immediately. It is recommended to prioritize using axes, though lances are still useful because she'll have a higher lance rank and are better against sword-users. Her defense and resistance growths are about average; since she has a decent defense base and bad resistance base, she will continue to be physically bulky enough but weak to magic, especially wind.

Jill has no base skills, but as a flier, she is flexible to work with most skills. Adept and Guard have decent activation rates thanks to her good skill. Savior is an invaluable skill on her if she is to regularly face combat while ferrying units like Ike. It is not recommended to teach her Stun with an Occult as stunning enemy units is rarely useful.

Jill has a thunder affinity, which gives a defense and avoid boost, both useful for her survival. Mist has a water affinity which gives Jill +3 defense at A support, which is extremely useful for Jill but not as useful for Mist since she is a healer. It also gives her a +1 attack boost that improves her already good offense. They will have similar mobility when Mist promotes, though Mist does not fly. Lethe has a heaven affinity which gives only accuracy, which Jill appreciates when using axes, but her skill and forges often make it unnecessary. Haar has a wind affinity which gives light accuracy and avoid, complementing Jill's thunder affinity; furthermore, he is the same class as her, but he joins extremely late in the game.

Fire Emblem: Radiant Dawn

Role

Jill first appears inChapter 5, defendingPelleas andIzuka along withTauroneo andZihark. After the battle, the three join forces with the Dawn Brigade and form the Daein Liberation Army. Jill continues to fight for Daein for the rest of Part I.

InPart III, Chapter 7 orPart III, Endgame, Jill can be spoken to withHaar—or withMist, if they had a transferred A support—causing Jill to defect to the Greil Mercenaries.

In Part IV, Jill can be assigned to any of the three armies.

Analysis

Jill is the first and only permanent flier in Micaiah's team, joining in I-6. Her unparalleled mobility provides her a highly important and unique role in the army, despite having lower base stats than many units used in the second half of Part I. Dracoknight is the uncontested best beorc class in the game, with flight, decent caps, and access to Axes, the best overall weapon type. They also lost their typical weakness to Bows and Wind magic in favor of Thunder, the weakest and least accurate of the already underpowered Anima triangle. She has high speed, luck, and defense bases, although her average strength and skill bases when using heavy and less accurate axes may make her combat less reliable. A forged Iron Axe is recommended to partially mitigate this issue. Her poor HP base makes her durability lower than might be expected, especially against mages.

While she is still usable at base, she is improved greatly by stat-boosters, especially the Seraph Robe and Energy Drop, or Path of Radiance transfers, benefitting more from these than perhaps any character in the game due to her incomparable potential and utility. Note that an average PoR Jill only caps skill, but is a few points away from capping strength, speed, and defense, so PoR Jill needs good RNG or possibly some bands to hit these caps. While an early or immediate promotion may somewhat limit her ability to fill out her weaker stats later on using BEXP, she will remain one of your best units regardless and benefit in the short-term.

Jill has excellent growths in speed and luck, and passable growths in strength, skill, and resistance. She will easily cap speed and resistance in both tiers 2 and 3, as well as luck in the latter, giving her plenty of opportunities to patch up her weaker growths. Combined with her flier utility, great weapon type, and proper investment, she will become by far the most useful unit in Micaiah's army, to the extent that making her the sole target of investment for Part III is a viable strategy. She takes no movement penalty from the ledges and swamps present throughout Micaiah's maps. The near-complete lack of magic users in Micaiah's Part III maps is a major boon to her. Jill has functionally exclusive access to the Brave Axe in III-6 due to Nolan, if deployed, being likely to use Tarvos. She is the best recipient of the III-12 boots due to her class, and her flight allows her to maneuver around the map's chokepoints. As she is so important for Micaiah's team, it is not recommended to recruit her to Ike's team in III-7, however, there is no loss in recruiting Jill in III-E since she can contribute to Ike's team and is no longer committed to Micaiah's team in Part IV. On her first promotion, she obtains D lances, which limits her toIron andBronze Lances as well asJavelins—the last of which are useful against enemy sword users on Easy and Normal modes, but are outclassed by the more accurate and more powerful Hand Axes on Hard Mode due to the removal of the weapon triangle. Her second promotion gives her B lances, allowing her to use weapons such as theHorseslayer,Brave Lance, andKiller Lance.

While Jill is well-suited to any Team in Part IV, keeping her on Micaiah's team is recommended due to how poorly other units handle IV-3's combination of desert terrain and crossbow users. However, she still performs extremely well on Ike's and Tibarn's team, so it is up to the player's discretion. She may be underleveled if other units were trained alongside her in Part III, in which case bonus experience or Paragon are recommended. She is an excellent candidate for endgame, even more so than most of the Laguz Royals, due to her great movement, hammer access, great blessing options in the Urvan and Brave Axe, and solid caps.

Jill has no skills upon joining, but is in a position to greatly benefit from them. She unfortunately does not have the capacity for any useful skills until she promotes to tier 2. She makes excellent use of Paragon, as she has the best long-term payoff out of Micaiah's entire team; keep in mind she is not available on Chapter I-8, so it is wise to assign Paragon to a different unit just for that chapter. Beastfoe is always extremely useful in III-6 and III-13, although it may be better used on a unit that needs more help to kill Laguz than a properly trained Jill, especially on easier difficulties. Tauroneo's Resolve and Zihark's Adept are highly useful for further improving her survivability and allowing her to double Cat Laguz that she otherwise cannot at tier 2. She can put Fiona's Savior to good use too, though that skill is often better off passed to Ike's team due to a lack of seize chapters for Micaiah's team after Part I. Tormod's Celerity is an excellent skill that amplifies her mobility even further, although it also may be better passed to the Greil Mercenaries, especially as she can use the III-12 Boots instead. Her Mastery Skill, Stun, takes up only 25 capacity compared to the usual 30, giving her an extra 5 capacity in tier 3 to allow a 15–10 skill combination. Jill is an extremely versatile unit, so feel free to be creative.

Jill has the Thunder affinity, which boosts her defense and avoid. Her best option is to support an Earth affinity unit such as Nolan, Zihark, Volug, or Fiona to dramatically boost her Avoid. An alternative choice is Micaiah, who will provide her +2 attack, +2 defense, and +15 avoid at A support. While they may benefit from her bonuses, Jill's supports should focus on improving her more than her partner. Without other permanent fliers, there is unfortunately no unit that can fully keep up with her until Part IV, where Jill has potential options like Haar and Tanith.

Personality

Jill is first introduced as being highly prejudiced towards the Laguz race, as can be observed through her frequent articulation of the demeaning term "sub-human" when referring to members of the race. She reveals that she has been raised to believe that laguz are evil, where they are referred to as nothing more than "sub-humans" in the schools she once attended.[5] Jill then expresses a desire to remain with the army for a longer period of time, all in order to gain a better understanding of the laguz.

Jill: Fiery Dracoknight
Jill is a dracoknight from Daein who serves with the forces guarding the kingdom's borders. She's also the daughter of Shiharam, a renowned lord who governs the territory of Talrega.Serious and dedicated, Jill was devoted to her military career and completely loyal to Daein. She looked up to her father, who was a general himself, and Haar, the captain of her squad.Growing up in Daein, Jill was taught lies about her country's history, and she learned to hate the laguz as a result. However, through the course of battle, she came into contact with other beliefs and ways of thinking, and realized that the history she had learned was wrong.Doubting her values and her homeland, Jill abandoned the army, knowing that she may have to face her own father in battle. Still, I'm sure that whatever happens, her resolve and determination will guide her to the right path!

  • Jill, along with her father, is one of the very fewFire Emblem characters prior toThree Houses to have a known last name, Fizzart.
  • Jill is one of only two playable units who start bothPath of Radiance andRadiant Dawn in a completely unpromoted base class, the other beingIlyana. All other returning characters inRadiant Dawn are in advanced classes (includingMist because, although she is still aCleric, that class is an advanced class inRadiant Dawn).
  • InFire Emblem: Path of Radiance, the player is given the option to have Jill defect to her father's side should the player force Jill to fight her father. This marks the first time inFire Emblem history an allied unit can defect to the enemy in the heat of battle.
