Jedah (Japanese:ジュダJuda) is acantor and major antagonist inFire Emblem Gaiden. He became the highest ranking follower ofDuma after oustingHalcyon, the previous high priest.^[1]

Role

Jedah is one of the major antagonists ofGaiden's plot. His children,Marla andHestia are also followers of Duma, though his youngest daughter,Sonya rejected the faith and fled toZofia, and became associated withGrieth's pirates some time before the events of the game. Also before the events of the game, Jedah ousted the previous high priest,Halcyon.

Jedah is fought twice during the events ofGaiden, though he is only intended to be defeated in thefinal chapter. The first time he appears, inAct 4, is merely to tauntCelica, as well as to show off his ability to summonMogall.^[2]

His next appearance is in the final battle of the game. Jedah fights alongside Marla, Hestia,Gharn, andDuma himself againstAlm and Celica.

In both appearances, Jedah is protected by a powerful spell that makes him mostly immune to enemy attacks.^[3]

Fire Emblem Echoes: Shadows of Valentia

Role

Jedah reprises his role as a major antagonist in the remake. Once again, he is fought twice and will only be defeated in the final chapter.

He also retains his spell that nullifies enemy attacks, which manifests in theDuma's Giftskill. However, unlike his appearance inGaiden, Jedah is vulnerable every fourth round of combat instead of every fourth turn.

Personality

Suiting the station of High Priest, Jedah is a devout member of the Duma Faithful who believes in the divine right of gods to rule overValentia. As both an expression of faith and in exchange for power he willingly sacrificed two of his daughters,Marla andHestia to Duma.^[4] Jedah also seems to have legitimate concern for Duma's well-being.^[5] Restoring Duma's heath is paramount in his mind, as he believes that Valentia's only suitable ruler is Duma himself.

Jedah holds a low opinion ofMila, despite her status as Duma's sibling, due to witnessing her gentle rule resulting inZofia descending into hedonistic excess. He considers Mila's influence to be corruption, turning men into monsters that only follow their whims.^[6]

Jedah is estranged fromSonya, his one daughter who did not accept being sacrificed. If the two fight during his first encounter during act 5 he insists that their sacrifices were voluntary and that their state aswitches is a "blissful" existence.

In northern Valentia's Rigel Empire, there exists a group that worships Duma, the Fell God. They're led by a high priest, whom I'll be introducing this time—Jedah.	Jedah is the Fell God's most devout servant. Apparently, he even sacrificed the souls of his daughters to Duma...	These sacrifices granted Jedah incredible power. With the Fell God's blessing upon him, it seems like no attack can harm him!	Though Jedah might be a terrifying figure, he could be a valuable ally to the Order of Heroes. I just hope that he doesn't end up becoming our foe...
