Hunters (Japanese:ハンターHunter) are abow-wielding infantry class. They appeared first inFire Emblem: Shadow Dragon & the Blade of Light, and since then have been included as a playable class in all games set inArchanea. Hunters also appear inFire Emblem: Genealogy of the Holy War andThracia 776, but only as enemy units.

As they wield bows, hunters can only attack from distance; they can attack most physical units without fear of retaliation, but cannot act when attacked by adjacent units. In comparison toarchers, they boast better strength, speed, mobility and the ability to traverse forest terrain at a faster rate, but have lower defense.

InFire Emblem: Shadow Dragon & the Blade of Light, hunters are a basic class that cannot be promoted. Starting withMystery of the Emblem, they have the option to becomehorsemen.
