Analysis
| This character analysis section may not be accurate to every player's experience. |
Hinata is a level 10Samurai starting inChapter 9 ofBirthright, and the end ofChapter 10 ofRevelation. His stat spread is okay for his join time. His HP, strength, defense, and luck are all quite good, his speed is amazing, his skill not as great, and his magic and resistance are bad. Many of his growths are average at best, with his best best ones being HP, strength, skill, luck, and defense. His speed growth is not great despite speed being one of his strong suits in his stats, and his resistance and magic are pretty low.
Hinata starts with the skillsTriple Threat,Duelist's Blow, andVantage. Triple Threat is nothing too amazing, only dealing extra damage back to the foe only when a sword, lance, or axe drops him below 50% health, though any additional chip damage can be nice. Duelist's Blow gives him extra avoid when initiating combat, and Vantage lets him always attack first when at 50% HP or below.
In his main class tree, Hinata can promote to eitherSwordmaster orMaster of Arms. Swordmaster is the better option if the player is more concerned with his potential long-term speed issues due to his lowish growth. He also gains more points of skill and resistance, which are also stats that might eventually be lacking with their lower growths. In this class, Hinata learns the skillsAstra andSwordfaire. His skill growth isn't very high, making Astra not very reliable. Swordfaire, on the other hand, is always useful for gaining extra damage, especially when swords are one of the weakest weapon types. Master of Arms instead gives additional bulk and strength, as well as lance and axe access for full weapon triangle control, though starting at E rank means it'll take some time to be able to use better weapons. It also reduces his speed growth, which can hurt his long-term doubling ability. In this class Hinata learnsSeal Strength andLife and Death. Seal Strength reduces an opponents offensive power, and Hinata can choose to use this skill to weaken a foe for another unit to claim the kill, while Life and Death boosts his offensive power by quite a lot, although the enemy also gains additional attack, so keep that in mind.
On the subject of reclassing, Hinata can reclass intoOni Savage, where he gains extra bulk and strength, though he'll lose quite a bit of skill speed, luck, and resistance. His skill, speed, and resistance growths are also reduced to the point where they are quite poor, but his defense growth is increased by quite a lot.Seal Resistance is situationally useful, and can be used more often since Hinata can force himself to not double an opponent with certain weapons, andShove gives extra movement opportunities.Oni Chieftain is quite a poor combat class for Hinata since his low magic hinders his damage output with tomes, his axe rank may not be very high depending on when he is reclassed, and he'll suffer from doubling issues with the reduced speed compared to his other classes. However, it is an exceptional pair up class by giving high amounts of strength and defense, where units likeKagero orHana appreciate the extra bulk. Circling back to skills,Death Blow increases crit by 20 when initiating combat, which any combat unit might want, andCounter deals all damage taken back to the foe, which can prove useful in weakening foes.Blacksmith has the highest HP and skill out of his base classes, and keeps more luck and speed compared to Oni Chieftain, while also trading a point of defense for two points of skill in pair up.Salvage Blow gives a luck% chance to gain iron weapons, which can be useful to save money, andLancebreaker gives +50 hit and avoid against lances, which is extra useful if Hinata's a Swordmaster, since he'll be at weapon triangle disadvantage.
Hinata can also gain additional classes and skills withFriendship Seal partners.Subaki gives speed, skill, and resistance in pair up as aFalcon Knight, and trades some speed for more skill, and resistance for luck as aKinshi Knight. Receiving theSky Knight class tree, it's mostly useful for its movement, as it's slightly slower than Swordmaster in terms of stat and growth.Darting Blow is a very useful skill to keep Hinata doubling for longer, andCamaraderie gives a slight amount of self-healing when near allies. Falcon Knight is not an ideal class since Hinata's low magic reduces healing output with staves, and the only stat boost he gets that he really wants is just resistance.Rally Speed isn't a bad skill by any means, but Hinata's generally more geared towards being a combat unit.Warding Blow does turn him into a very good magic unit killer with the +20 resistance initiating combat. All Kinshi Knight has going for it statwise is skill and movement, as it has worse HP, strength, speed, and defense compared to both of his other base promotions, and access to bows for a ranged weapon type that doesn't prevent a unit from doubling.Air Superiority makes Hinata an ideal fighter against the manyWyvern Rider tree enemies the player will face in the late-game, andAmaterasu gives healing to nearby allies.Takumi is a slightly better option than Subaki for skill and speed pair ups by giving more of those stats as aSniper. He also gives Hinata theArcher class tree, where he can gains access to Kinshi Knight like Sky Knight, but gains Sniper for a different class than Falcon Knight, which has good strength, skill, and defense stats. The Archer tree gives a couple accuracy skills inSkill +2 andCertain Blow. Both have very practical use cases with Hinata's lower skill growth.Quick Draw's extra damage when initiating combat is also very exceptional.Bowfaire also boosts damage, but only with bows, meaning he'll have to stay as a bow class to make use of it.Kaden is the ultimate speed backpack for Hinata, giving +6 speed as aNine-Tails, and +1 resistance. However, the class Hinata receives isDiviner, which is very unhelpful for him, as the main promotion ofOnmyoji is purely magical.Basara does give him physical lances to alleviate some issues, though if he hasn't built that rank as a Master of Arms or other class, his damage output will suffer.Rend Heaven is a decently reliable damage boosting skill, but Hinata's lower skill growth will reduce it's proc rate.Quixotic gives +30 hit and +15% to skill activations, which is good to increase his accuracy and proc rates of Astra, Salvage Blow,Future Sight, and Rend Heaven, although the enemy gains those same bonuses. However, inBirthright, few enemies have skills, which makes only the hit bonus an issue there. Lastly,Odin gives +1 strength, +1 luck, +3 defense, and +1 movement as aDark Knight, or +1 strength, +1 luck, and +3 resistance as aSorcerer. WithDark Mage being a mostly magic-oriented class tree, Hinata will once again be limited to just using Dark Knight to gain skill since it has a physical weapon, and he keeps his Samurai sword rank as a bonus.Heartseeker gives additional accuracy when fighting an adjacent foe, which works for all units fighting said foe,Malefic Aura gives extra magical damage to nearby allies,Seal Magic reduces the magic stat after combat, though Hinata can dispatch magical units somewhat easily, making the skill less useful. Finally,Lifetaker heals half of Hinata's max HP after killing a foe.
As previously mentioned, Hinata is an especially good partner for Kagero, as he can provide speed for her in his base class tree when she needs some help doubling, and he can later reclass to the Oni tree to fix her poor bulk. Kagero also supplies additional speed, skill, and slight amount of resistance in pair up as aMaster Ninja. Master Ninja is also a good class for Hinata since he'll keep his sword rank, and have boosts to his skill and resistance stats and growths at the cost of some other stats and growths, while also gaining 1-2 range shurikens, which are incredibly useful inBirthright.
Fire Emblem Heroes
Role
There are two different variations of Hinata available to Heroes, both of which are tied to his storyline appearance inFates. The normal variation of Hinata is one of the characters available to be summoned by players from the game's initial launch. A groom variation of Hinata was added to the game alongside the assets for theBridal Beloveds update and made available to players in the twenty-eighth edition of theTempest Trials+, "A Waltz Unending", which initially ran from May 22, 2020 through June 1, 2020.
Despite the normal variation of Hinata's lowest inherent rarity being three-star, some skill information pertaining to one- and two-star versions of the normal variation of Hinata is known.
