Hex (Japanese:呪いCurse) is askill introduced inFire Emblem Awakening. Originally associated with theDark Mage class inAwakening, it reduces the avoiding abilities of all enemies adjacent to the user.
It returned inFire Emblem Echoes: Shadows of Valentia as a passive skill linked to theShadow Sword andDevil Axe, where it gives the user of the weapon bearing it a chance to damage themselves instead of their target as a result of their strike. However, it is negated by theDread Fighter'sAntihex ability. Technically speaking, this effect has existed in the series long beforeEchoes: Shadows of Valentia made it a formalized skill. Weapons with this effect have featured in many previous games, and first appeared inFire Emblem: Shadow Dragon & the Blade of Light, the very first game in theFire Emblem series, as an attribute of theDevil Axe andDevil Sword.
