| “ | Oh, yes! But it's time that's going by so fast in the Deeprealms. I'm an adult now—or at least more one than that brute was. Anyway, Father, I found the rare herbs you wanted! See? I've got them right here! Er, hold on. They were right here. I had them just a moment ago! | ” | — Midori, searching for the herbs she gathered |

Herbal Remedy (Japanese:願いの薬草Herb of Wishes) is the sixth paralogue chapter inFire Emblem Fates. As a paralogue chapter, its events are not integral to the game's main storyline and can be done at the player's leisure. In theBirthright campaign, the chapter is unlocked after clearingchapter 15 inBirthright, havingKaze surivive the events of that chapter, and have himmarried; this chapter will not unlock prior to the completion of chapter 15 at the earliest despite the player potentially being able to marry Kaze off after completingchapter 6. In theConquest andRevelation campaigns, the chapter's unlock criteria is simpler: clearingchapter 11 inConquest orchapter 8 inRevelation, and have Kaze married, more along the lines of the criteria of other child paralogues.
In this chapter, anotorious treasure hunter has made off with somerare herbsKaze asked his daughter,Midori, to bring him. It is up toCorrin and his/her army to recover the herbs before the treasure hunter gets away.

We witnessMidori marching along within a forest, stating that she doesn't want to keep her father waiting and that she's found the rare herb that he wanted tucked away in her bag; as Midori states that she's marched all the way from herDeeprealm to meet up with her father, she then sees a scene ahead of her, to which a boy cries out for help as he's attacked by a ruffian who demands he open up his pockets or risk having them cut open--with the ruffian stating that he's not too careful with hisknife, after which the boy tells the ruffian to leave him alone. Midori tells the ruffian to pick on someone his own size, distracting the ruffian's attention toward her; Midori attempts to convince the ruffian to put down his weapons, after which the ruffian attempts to attack Midori, only to himself be downed by an attack as Midori's father,Kaze, arrives on the scene and tells Midori that she's safe. As the ruffian runs away from the scene claiming he has bigger pockets to empty, Midori thanks Kaze for his help and asks him if he was worried about her, in return stating she wasn't worried about him; Kaze asks Midori to be on time the next time as he always worries about her, then asks her if she's gotten taller again and likens her growth to bamboo, to which Midori states it's due to how time passes in the Deeprealms--she states that she's now more of an adult than the ruffian. Midori then states that she found the rare herbs Kaze wanted and that she has them in her bag--then looks in her bag to find the herbs aren't there; after the two affirm that Midori didn't drop the herbs, Kaze suggests that they retrace her steps, deducing that they must have slipped through her fingers, before Midori deduces that the ruffian took the herbs. Midori vows to find the ruffian and get the herbs back, leaving the scene; as Midori runs off, Kaze tells her to wait.
Midori catches the eye of the person who pilfered the herbs, then calls the person out on it; the person holding the herbs,Candace, notices Midori's sharp eyes and states that people usually don't notice her when she's tiptoeing around, after which Midori states Candace to be running around with some pretty bad guys--to which Candace replies she is not with the ruffians, she merely travels among them as a distraction for her own work. As Candace states that nobody notices her walk among the barbarians, she introduces herself as one who locates legendary riches, a genius, an explorer, and a notorious treasure hunter; as Midori again confronts Candace about her herbs, Candace states that she's in the area looking for rareDragon Herbs, and duly pilfered them from Midori, after which Midori calls out Candace on her theft, with Candace returning the accusation saying Midori stole the herbs from the forest in the first place. Candace states that she is about to leave the area and dares Midori to get the Dragon Herbs back, to which Midori states that she needs them to give to Kaze;preparations take place at this point, after which the battle begins.
Once the battle ends, Midori notes that the ordeal has ended, stating that she wasn't sure that they were going to get the Dragon Herbs back; Kaze asks Midori not to scare him again, noting that the whole ordeal was over herbs, with Kaze stating that they could have simply gone out and gathered more, and that the ordeal wasn't worth risking losing Midori over. Midori states that the Dragon Herbs only grow in this area once per year, and reveals that they can make wishes come true--specifically Midori's wish to prove her usefulness to Kaze and thus leave her Deeprealm; Kaze states that they could have just waited for the Dragon Herbs to grow back and that what Midori did was risky, to which Midori states that a year in this world would be practically forever in her Deeprealm, and she doesn't want to wait that long to prove her usefulness to Kaze. Kaze apologizes to Midori for all he put her through, stating it was for her own safety, before realizing Midori is now old enough to make her own choices and apologizes for putting her through a lot of loneliness and decides it's now time for her to leave her Deeprealm; Kaze and Midori then start to catch up on just what has happened to each of them during her time in the Deeprealm.
Summary
Kaze asks his daughter Midori to bring him dragon herbs, but they are stolen by an adventurer named Candace. Kaze and company pursue her to recover the herbs.

Note: The returning characters list only those recruited by the time this chapter can first be unlocked (after completing chapter 15 inBirthright, after completing chapter 11 inConquest, or after completing chapter 8 inRevelation). InConquest andRevelation, Felicia is only a returning character if Corrin is male, while Jakob is only a returning character if Corrin is female; inBirthright, both Felicia and Jakob are available regardless of Corrin's gender. As a paralogue chapter, there is no set timeframe in which the chapter must be taken on; thus, it is possible to have recruited more characters than the above by the point the chapter is started.

Strategy
| This section details unofficial strategies that may help with completion of the chapter. This may not work for everybody. |
Bring several flying units, as they can bypass the massive trees that force the player to go the intended path. Pair them up with bulky units, likeRinkah,Hinoka,Oboro,Benny, or units reclassed to bulky classes, likeGeneral orGreat Knight so they can faceCandace's squad. Additionally, theGuard Naginata works wonders with providing extra bulk. Bulky fliers likeScarlet andBeruka also work, so long as they avoid theOutlaw* and theDark Mage*, since the they'll face effective damage from the former, and they have low resistance stats facing the latter. This way, the player can intercept Candace, take out her surrounding lackeys, and finish the chapter quite quickly, though it comes at the cost of losing a lots of exp, and this paralogue is much easier to farm exp from than some others. If the player doesn't have enough flying units to spare, bring units with as much movement as possible, and pair them up with units capable of using Dragon Veins so that they can activate them quickly to keep pace with Candace.
Trivia
- This chapter is one of two child paralogues inFates where the chapter recruitment criteria comes the earliest in theRevelation campaign than in any other campaign (chapter 8, compared to chapter 11 forConquest and chapter 15 forBirthright), the other beingparalogue 18. In the case of this chapter, this is due to aBirthright-specific additional condition that prevents the paralogue from unlocking unless Kaze survives the events of a specific chapter; had that condition not been in place,Birthright players would have been able to unlock this paralogueeight chapters sooner (and one chapter earlier in comparison to inRevelation).
- Also due to saidBirthright-specific additional condition, it is the only child paralogue available to all three campaigns which is unlocked sooner inConquest compared to inBirthright.
