Geese (Japanese:ギースGeese) is a playablepirate inFire Emblem: The Binding Blade. He is a merchant from theWestern Isles and the younger brother ofGeitz.

Geese was a former merchant in theWestern Isles, and the younger brother ofGeitz. When theDisturbance of Bern started, he and his crew had to resort to piracy to survive. Once, he tried to rob a ship that actually was a Bernese warship, and he was nearly killed.

Geese shows up as anNPC unit in Chapter 10A or Chapter 11B. In both routes, ifRoy talks to him, he offers himself as a guide around the Western Isles, and also to get vengeance for his fellow crewmembers.

Analysis

Geese joins as a level 10Pirate halfway throughThe Binding Blade. His base stats are balanced, but none of them are particularly impressive. Geese also has a terrible base resistance of 0 and a growth of 10%, ensuring he will always struggle against magical enemies.

Geese joins with theBrave Axe on the A route, and has a particularly good base B-rank in axes, letting him use it on either route. The problem is that he needs the Brave Axe to attack twice. His base speed is too low to double most enemies. He also has accuracy problems because axes are inaccurate. While attacking twice would help with that, he cannot double naturally. Geese will often have rounds of combat when he misses his single attack and does nothing else.

Geese's promotion toBerserker redeems him a little. He gains a critical bonus, and significant increases in HP, constitution, strength, skill, and defense. He also gains 50 weapon experience in axes, so if he did not have an A-rank before promoting, he will have it after promotion. This brings him closer to wielding theArmads, the most accurate axe in the game, which requires an S-rank in axes to use.

Geese can be promoted as soon as he joins the army since his base level is 10 – enough to promote. The statistical increases from the promotion make promoting Geese early a clever idea in most cases – since his base stats are mediocre. That said, even once promoted, Geese is not a very impressive unit. His combat is only average, and he will still have severe doubling issues. He also is competing with other Hero Crest users for this item, includingDieck,Gonzalez, andFir. Compared to his peers, he struggles to stand out with his mediocre speed and poor hit rate.

Overall, Geese is a mediocre combat unit overshadowed by his peers. He often struggles to kill even a single enemy due to accuracy problems and the inability to double. He is also terrible against mages since his resistance base and growth are as bad as they get inThe Binding Blade. However, he is far from unusable if the player wishes to use him.

Geese was first made available to be summoned by players on August 7, 2020 in a special pirate variation as part of the summoning event surrounding thePirate's Pride update. The aforementioned pirate variation of Geese is the only one currently available inHeroes, based on hisThe Binding Blade incarnation.

Geese: A Life at Sea
A group of three islands lie to the west of Elibe—and the surrounding waters are home to Geese, a pirate who has made his territory there!	Geese once ran a trading company. But the war made business difficult, so he was forced to turn to piracy in order to keep his men from going hungry.	Geese and his crew might have been pirates, but they weren't exactly a group of bloodthirsty marauders. They would transport goods through dangerous waters on the behalf of villagers, take on escort missions, and so on… I guess you could call them pirates with hearts of gold!	People say that Geese deserves better than being a pirate, but he truly does love life at sea. I hope to learn from his example about what it means to be a Hero among pirates!
