Flare (Japanese:陽光Sunlight) is askill which debuted inFire Emblem: Path of Radiance. In it and its sequel,Radiant Dawn, it appears as anoffensive skill, and like all offensive skills in these games, it is amastery skill. It's learned by theSage andBishop classes in the former game, and theArch Sage,Empress, andSummoner classes in the latter. In both games it decreases the enemy'sresistance stat, and inRadiant Dawn it also drains the enemy'shit points to heal the user.
Flare returns inFire Emblem Engage as the Engage skill ofEmblem Soren. It is no longer an offensive skill, acting instead as a constant penalty on the opponent's resistance stat during combat. It also keeps the HP-draining effect introduced inRadiant Dawn. As an Engage skill, it can have additional effects depending on the unit type of the user.
