Thefive heroes (Japanese:五人の英雄five heroes) were fivehumans that fought againstFomortiis, their story is recounted in theLegend of the Sacred Stones.
The five heroes are one of the least divulged groups of heroes in theFire Emblem series, no images are known to exist of any hero, and only two of the five heroes have known names. This lack of knowledge about them seems to more come from no opportunity arising to mention them, as in-universe the heroes seem to be well known acrossMagvel. In particular, they are included inEirika's,Ephraim's, andLyon's history curriculums.[1]
Overview
The five heroes foughteight hundred years before the events ofThe Sacred Stones. During this timeFomortiis held dominion overMagvel, as well as pushingHumanity to the brink of annihilation. Through some unknown force the five heroes were blessed with the fiveSacred Stones. The five heroes also possessed twomonster-slaying weapons each,Gleipnir excluded, being not effective against monsters, the origins of theSacred Twins are also unknown.
With the aid ofMorva and the rest of themanakete tribe, Grado and the other heroes attacked Fomortiis inDarkling Woods.[2] The heroes are successful in killing Fomortiis, though with great casualties to their forces.[3] The Demon King's death in the forest had the side effect of near-irreversibly corrupting the earth with the Demon King's blood.
After the defeat of Fomortiis each hero went on to found a country. Grado founded theGrado Empire, which is named after him, and Latona foundedRausten.Renais,Frelia, andJehanna were each founded by a hero. The modern-day royal families of each country are descended from their founding hero, and their respective set ofSacred Twins and Sacred Stone are passed along the royal family bloodlines.
