Tormod casting fire magic inFire Emblem Cipher.

Fire magic (Japanese:flame) is a weapon category and class ofmagic in theFire Emblem series, first appearing inGenealogy of the Holy War as one of its five magic types. It is one of the three nature-based magics which comprise the school ofanima magic.

The main distinction of fire magic is how the stats of the average fire tome are primarily oriented toward being relatively average inweight, hit, orpower compared to the other schools of magic. In this respect, it can be viewed as a magical counterpart tolances, which tend to be oriented similarly. InPath of Radiance andRadiant Dawn, fire magic also dealsbonus damage againstbeast tribe laguz such asTigers. In accordance with theTrinity of Magic, fire magic has an advantage overwind andlight magic, but is at a disadvantage againstthunder anddark magic.

Fire tomes can be found in some form in everyFire Emblem game, but fire magic as a distinct, separate weapon category only appears in four games:Genealogy of the Holy War,Thracia 776,Path of Radiance, andRadiant Dawn. In all other games, fire magic is rolled into broader magic categories:black magic inGaiden,Echoes: Shadows of Valentia, andThree Houses, anima magic in theGame Boy Advance games, and generictomes in theArchanea games,Awakening,Fates, andEngage.
