Fimbulvetr (Japanese:フィンブルFimbul) is a potent ice-basedanima magic tome first appearing in the threeGame Boy Advance instalments of theFire Emblem series. In all three of these appearances, it is found in the possession of late-game enemySages, mostly female bosses. After these games, the tome would see a prolonged absence from the series until resurfacing inFates, after which it would go on to appear inThree Houses as well. InFates, the tome appears in a far weaker fashion, serving as the game's standard C-rank tome. InThree Houses, it is classified asBlack magic, and is once again a high-powered spell, in addition to having a greatly enhancedcritical hit rate.
Fimbulvetr is the sole tome in the anima magic category that does not fall within the three traditional elements offire,thunder, andwind. An ice elemental, to which Fimbulvetr belongs to, is allowed under the GBA interpretation of anima magic, with the manuals of the three GBA games even listing ice as one of the elements of anima magic.[1]

- The French versions ofPath of Radiance,Radiant Dawn,Awakening, andHeroes call the separateRexcalibur spell "Fimbulvetr". As a result, in the French version ofHeroes, there are two tomes in the same game both named "Fimbulvetr".
