The Sable Order fought valiantly to keep Marth's army from reaching Chiasmir, but in the end Grust's knights buckled: the world's mightiest only in song. The League marched on to the Fane of Raman, a holy sanctuary built by the divine dragoons to house their most priceless treasures. Here another story was set to begin...
— Chapter 19 intro ofShadow Dragon

TheFane of Raman (Japanese:ラーマン神殿Temple of Raman), also called simplyRaman,[1] is a temple built by the ancientdragonkin to house their greatest treasures. It is located inChiasmir,[2] north ofGrust and west ofAltea, connected to the mainland viaChiasmir Bridge.

History

Ancient times

The exact origins of the Fane of Raman are unknown, though it is theorized to be related to the divine dragonsDuma andMila.[3] Inthe year -500,Naga of thedivine dragon clan placedFalchion and theBinding Shield in the Fane of Raman before her fated death. 730 years after the death of Naga, the thiefAdrah broke into the Fane of Raman and stole the Binding Shield along with a few other treasures such asMercurius andParthia.[3] Adrah then proceeded to break off the Binding Shield's five spheres to sell for money.

War of Shadows and aftermath

During the War of Shadows,Gharnef managed to hypnotize Naga's daughter,Tiki, and put her as the guardian of the temple in order to preventMarth from reclaiming theLightsphere andStarsphere necessary to forgeStarlight.[4] With the help ofBantu, Marth managed to recruit Tiki into his army by snaping her out of her trance and reclaims the orbs inside the temple.

Before the beginning of theWar of Heroes, a group of thieves lead byDall used the Fane of Raman as their hideout to protect their treasures. As Marth's army was marching toward Chiasmir, fleeingGrust territory, a dancer namedPhina lost herself in the forest nearby and get ambushed by the thieves.[5]Navarre, who was part of the bandits, turn on them and came to her rescue. The two then joined Marth's forces and defeated the thieves.

Trivia

  • In the Japanese version ofShadow Dragon & the Blade of Light, there is an unused enemy ID calledそうへいだん "Warrior Monk army",[6] which was possibly intended forChapter 19. TheShadow Dragon & the Blade of Light: Winning Strategy guidebook by Futabasha similarly makes mention of僧兵そうへい "Warrior Monks" in the story section for that chapter.[7]
  • The coffin thatNagi slept in is described to bear markings that are similar to ones found in the Fane of Raman.[8]
