TheFalcon Knight (Japanese:ファルコンナイトFalcon Knight), alternatively spelledFalcoknight orFalconknight in certain games, is anadvanced,pegasus-mounted flyingclass which debuted inFire Emblem Gaiden. In all of its appearances, it is either one of or the onlypromoted form of thePegasus Knight; in theArchanea games, in which the Falcon Knight either does not exist at all or is downplayed, theDracoknight is instead the primary promotion option for Pegasus Knights. InRadiant Dawn, Falcon Knights can in turn promote to the third-tierSeraph Knight. InFates, Falcon Knights promote fromSky Knights, theHoshidan counterpart of Pegasus Knights.

Falcon Knights are for the most part defined by their highspeed, movement andresistance. They typically have by far the highest resistance stat of any physically-oriented class, which with their speed makes them particularly efficient at killing enemy magic-wielding units. While not possessing the raw strength of their fellow advanced flying class, theWyvern Lord, they compensate for it with their swiftness. As flying units, not only do they possess highmovement but they are also completely unaffected byterrain movement penalties.

However, Falcon Knights are also frail units with lowHP anddefense and, like all flying units, arevulnerable toBows and—depending on the game—wind magic tomes. Additionally, just as they do not have to worry about movement costs from terrain, they also cannot take advantage of the defensive benefits awarded by some terrain types to patch up their shaky defense. In all of their appearances, they primarily wieldlances, but are also capable of wieldingswords andstaves depending on the individual game.
