Ethnia (Japanese:エスニャEthnia) was the youngest child of DukeReptor ofGrannvale's HouseFriege, the younger sister ofBloom andTailtiu, and the mother ofAmid andLinda—thesubstitute characters for Tailtiu's childrenArthur andTine. InGenealogy of the Holy War's story, Ethnia is a background character whose abuse byHilda has left Linda timid; she serves the same role for her children as Tailtiu does hers.
Biography
Upon learning of Tailtiu's departure from Friege to ally withSigurd andClaud, and of her subsequent demise, Ethnia also left Friege to join Sigurd's army herself out of respect for her sister.[1] In the aftermath of theBattle of Belhalla, she fled toSilesse and at some point had two children,Amid andLinda. Though she and her children successfully spent several years in hiding there, she and Linda were eventually discovered and captured by her brotherBloom, leaving Amid behind;[2] Ethnia and Linda were imprisoned and subjected to the care of Bloom's wifeHilda, whose years of constant abuse resulted in Ethnia's death.[3]
Personality
Compared to her outgoing and energetic elder sister, Ethnia was more quiet and reserved, but nonetheless held an exceptionally close sisterly relationship with Tailtiu.[1]

When I was little, my mother and my newborn sister disappeared... I was left behind with nothing but this pendant. I only recently learned what really happened. It was King Bloom of Ulster. He abducted them. He took my family from me. The rumors I've heard all said Mother had died a while ago, but they also said my sister is still alive... Tine: Hilda! You... What you did to Mother...
Hilda: Ahh, that takes me back! It's been so long since I've had as much fun as tormenting that eyesore you call "mama"... Ahahaha!
Tine: No! You... I won't forgive you...
Hilda: Why, if I didn't know better, I'd say that's the smart mouth of someone all grown up! What could a brat like you ever hope to do? Good thing you miss your mama.
