Epimenides is first introduced inWarriors: Three Hopes, where they are the penultimate boss ifByleth is recruited. He wields the Hrotti tome, although it is unclear where he gained it.
Despite his unknown motivations or goals, or his history for that matter, quite a bit can be assumed. He is possibly an Agarthan, likeSolon, and if he is not, he is someone closely associated with them. He clearly hatesSothis and her church, shown in not only the shared paralogue he has withArval, but also in the opening movie.
Epimenides's goal is simply to destroy humanity, which he believes to be nothing but beasts. Ironically, he accomplished this in a manner similar toSeiros. His method was to create Arval, who he used to house his entire soul. Eventually, Arval, now at this point unknowing of who they actually were, found Shez, and through what few memories they had, wished to destroy Sothis.
He enjoys toying with people, as shown when he summoned the specters of friends and allies inInto the Chasm. He also seemingly enjoys setting people up, as when he summoned said specters, he taunted them for cutting them down.
He is in some ways the polar opposite of Arval. Arval, while being snarky, does genuinely care for Shez and trusts what they do. Epimenides is no-nonsense, and trusts seemingly only himself, shown in his paralogue where he begrudgingly fights for Nemesis.
